Not sure your reading comprehension is so good. Our friend is saying one needs to spend at least $15k for properly chunky billet wheels. The last set of Speedlines to sell on BaT went for $8500.

That you are an idiot. You think a custom cnc wheels cant be produced in any aesthetic desired? Come on man.
Are they more expensive than original speedlines refinished to like new? Thats hard to say. I spent a lot more than $1500 a wheel on my refinished speedlines. And i think i got a very good deal.

Again, your reading comprehension is quite poor. Go back and read the previous messages again. Slowly this time. Sound out any words you can’t read at first. When you’re done we can talk. Take your time.

Not saying that's absolutely necessary, just sharing my experience of what I paid for a set of wheels.

I would think that if Augment made ff2kracer's wheels they could make accurate Challenge replicas as well. (If Challenge wheels have more curvature it's not much by my eyes)

Can you post these? I’m not familiar with them. And again, I had two sets of augments built chasing accuracy and couldn’t achieve it.

Check the previous page. Did you not get a rendering to approve before the wheels were made?

Oh, right, those. If you applied those blanks to an SL886 they’d be way too concave. The speed lines are pretty straight. Again, I don’t think the readily-available blanks can accommodate this profile.

No way of knowing without seeing what it started out as but judging by photos of their other wheels it seems to be easily within the realm of possibility.

The two closest profiles they have — at least until 2023 - were the ones used on my wheels — mildly concave and mildly convex. Personally i don’t think either would work.

Thank you for the compliments @Ob917, a few more pictures of my wheels below.

If comments that they're too concave, too convex, or not fluid/organic, or "chunky" enough... well, blame me, because these wheels are exactly what I specified and wanted. It is my understanding that, with modern CNC, you can craft essentially any shape you want, as organic as you want. And I thought Rennlist was bad.

PS -- These cost much less than $15K

Relax ladies. This discussion isn’t a critique of anyone’s wheels (except maybe my own). This is about making accurate reproductions of Speedline mag wheels with forged aluminum blanks. That’s it. Lots of panties have gotten twisted over nothing.

Actually the op was specifically -not- interested in challenge reproductions.

The thread is about 18" wheels.

If you don't like the responses stop posting inaccurate information with a condescending attitude.

Those look outstanding. In the past there was only 1 set of wheels I liked on the f355 besides the factory wheels, which were the challenge speedlines. Now there are at least 3 (yours and the center lock f50 GT1 style on OCKlasse's car, also by Augment). Good to have choices.

I just "downsized" into a set of 18" wheels on my 355 and I'm really happy with the results.

Previously I had a set of staggered (18" front and 19" rear) HRE 305M wheels. I loved the look of the HREs and they were well made and light for their size, but they were super wide (8.5" front and 11" rear) and the width and offset of the rear wheels meant I had to run a compromised rear tire size to keep them from rubbing under hard cornering. They were also completely flush with the bodywork, which is a more modern look (some people love it and others don't). Overall, I just wanted to get closer to the original wheel sizes.

I was lucky to find a set of essentially new 18" BBS LM wheels that were only slightly wider than stock. They fit really well with zero rubbing, even with a wider rear tire than I was able to run on the HREs. The car feels a little lighter on it's feet now - more like it did with the stock wheels but with higher overall grip.

To me, they are the "Goldilocks" fitment!

    My advice: don’t.

First, it’s stunning right now. Perfectly dialed in. Custom, but not over done. A nice OEM+ vibe. Everything is in harmony.

Second, if you paint the centers gold the wheels will be fighting for attention with the beautiful lines of the car. As it is now the wheels are appropriately subservient to the car its self. Dial them up and you’ve got a rivalry on your hands.

Third, gold can very easily clash with the tan of the tonneau if you don’t get the shade and sheen spot on.

Fourth, gold centers are a bit ubiquitous these days.

I’m not a racecarsexual…. not that there’s anything wrong with it. I’ve just never found them attractive. Especially compared to their street cars equivalent.
