Mechanic tells me that the reading from the clutch shows hundred percent of the clutch has been used, but the car seems to be driving fine my question is , is it possible that the sensor that reads the clutch could’ve gone back rather than the actual clutch car has 18,000 original miles

If it was really 100% used, you would be stuck in neutral.

Numbers can be changed and make the readings on a computer way off ...I was working with someone else on here where the percent was 100 percent but the new clutch position was 0 so of course .. garbage in garbage out ..

Have someone look at inspection plate and measure it correctly

Was your mechanic using the correct software. Pre 2008 and 2008 and later use different software and clutch and gearbox numbers will be grossly inaccurate if the wrong software is used. Second what is the new clutch position and the current clutch position? Clutch wear is simply a calculation made from these two numbers. New clutch is programmed in at the time of clutch install and can be changed at any time. For a pre 2008 car new clutch numbers should be 19mm-20mm. For a 2008 430 the expected new clutch number would be 16.0-17.0mm, at 5mm of wear, add 5mm to your new clutch number, we typically see issues with the clutch.
Any reputable shop should be looking at the new clutch and current clutch numbers in addition to the wear number.

I tried messing with it today. The self calibrated position is set at 26.48 so I adjusted the new clutch position to 23.50, was that right?

You should never change the clutch position from new ...what was the original number before you changed it

By changing the "new" is exactly what I was speaking about above ..you can make the wear percent anything you want ..

Just by your calculated position it does seem your clutch is toast .. what year do you have

Again best way to inspect thru plate on bottom of car

What year is your car? Typical new clutch number for a early pre 2008 430 is going to be 19mm-20mm. If the original clutch number was correct at 19mm-20mm anything above 5mm is going to likely have some operational issue and above 6mm of wear is worn out.
The other option is something in the clutch was istalled incorrectly and the new number was not correct to begin with.

Hi - on this subject could I ask for further advice. I am looking at an F430 Spider 2008 and the readings for the clutch are below - in a completely different order of magnitude. Closed Clutch pos is 9.9mm, PIS 2.0 mm and closed when new 7.9mm. It gives wear at 36% but the numbers are completely different to anything I have seen referenced here. Any ideas would be much appreciated, thanks RJ
