Guys I've search and can't find a thread. Is there a trick to removing the headlight pod to change a bulb? I've got the surround off, headlights up but buggered if I can manoeuvre the pod out of the housing to reach the wires? Any suggestions?
Found this... https://www.clubscuderia.co.uk/forum/index.php?threads/f355-how-to-adjust-headlights-for-european-driving.6457/
Indeed - it's an interference fit - just do what the instructions say and make sure you use at least 3-4 layers of masking/painters tape to protect the body and carefully pull up on the headlight frame while working the lamp assembly through the gap. And definitely don't turn the battery back on until you are done - those motors are strong.
FFS. Got one out, then realised the LED bulbs I'd bought were H4 (both bulbs in my car are H1) so said some 4 letter words and then put it back together again. What a c**t of a job, just to change a bulb. Edit - I also found another article on ferrari life that suggested undoing the 10mm nut holding the motor rod / arm onto the housing, allowing additional lift to get the pod out, so will try that. Also, hearing reports that LED bulbs aren't all that and that HID with ballast etc are way better.
Just my experience, but after years and years of using HID's with ballast on my 993 (which has similar projector headlights as the 355), I switched to a pair of $30 Amazon LED bulbs and could not be happier. Lighting is the same, but the simplicity and reliability of the system just went up significantly. No crap Chinese ballasts and bulbs to fail. Haven't tried them on a 355, but they are great on my 993.
@cactussed My headlights are borderline dangerous, they're so dim. Plus I've got used to the LEDs on our T6. Be interested to hear your experience once you've got the new bulbs fitted - and if they're any good, which ones you bought. Thanks
I upgraded to LED headlights, LED hi-beam and LED fogs. Not as good as my 2025 but a large improvement over stock. I was afraid to drive it at night on back roads and now no hesitation. Sorry I don't have better pictures but just the LED fogs are brighter than the previous low beams. Image Unavailable, Please Login
