It seems the gap between CS is widening pretty significantly, especially with some of these recent public sales. It’s been a while since we discussed this but seeing a few comments above that the spread might be $250-450k now leads to some thoughts about what the perfect spec, options, and condition, CS is….

I’ll start, when we were searching for our car nearly a decade ago we were looking for a unique spec and didn’t want a radio. The stripe or no stripe was not a deal breaker. We ended up getting a red no stripe car but over tan leather with no radio and luggage which checked enough of the wish list to go forward with the purchase. The mileage and condition were also spot on.

Today what kind of premium if any would you put on stripe, colors, other options, mileage thresholds, etc.

We go from time to time and it’s almost ready to get the covers off the cars! I hope to get the CS out this week for some cleaning and a quick ride.

All good, and congrats on the Scud, absolutely on my bucket lists. I own (from what i know) the only fully converted (+) Modena to CS in the US. This was huge undertaking by the previous owner and it took 8 years to complete including full restoration(based on my records at today prices one can easily spend $300k plus to do it if they had to pay for labor) and I believe even is money is not an issue finding all parts is next to impossible.
Ratarossa the youtuber in UK has one that is also fully converted and he is currently restoring the paint and interior, not sure about the rest of the car.

I think a counterpoint is it’s a lot easier to spend $20-30k on an appreciating $300-400k car then sinking and forever losing $20-30k in a depreciating cheap car.

I honestly think the biggest thing people pay for is low mileage. I have no idea why, but that seems to almost double the price of these cars sometimes. I remember a 600 mile example one being listed for a million dollars not too far back. It sold too. Not sure at what price, but I’m positive it had to be high if that’s the price they started at.

I have all those parts on my car as well :D:cool::p

With the exception of CS stripe, engine lexan glass, decklid, 4 point racing harness as this parts would not fit the Spider format, I looked at 16M and went to next with my car and added Scuderia/16M steering rack as the CS + 360 + F430 all share the same rack... o_O:confused:

I really dont know what more I could do to improve where the CS fails :D Even have OEM F50 gear knob + LED lights by Scud Ing Swiss

Your car seems impressive to say the least. I’d definitely add the stripe

Yeah I've thought about it a lot, maybe I will add it as sticker as the car is done at paint :) Also my car is painted Rosso Magma and interior is blue seats and rest interior black alcantara. Dont know if the stripe will be too much. :D

What is the difference with the Scud/16M steering rack from the CS?

It's faster rack, less turning. So CS have the same steering rack as normal 360 and F430 part number 196171 (LHD) and Ferrari changed for Scuderia/16M and put better (faster) steering rack part number 226819 (LHD). This will change the feeling of the car.

I think it's very strange Ferrari did not change the steering rack for CS. They did this for 355 with Challenge and Fiorano Handling Package. I have driven the Scuderia and the handling of the car feels much better than CS, so I look forward to see how my car will handles with ALL the CS bits and this rack on it. Also all my shocks have been refurbished + new CS titanium springs and all bushing new.

First post here (I live in Porsche and Lambo land, but have been following this thread and waiting for perfect CS), but here's my thoughts on perfect car with the context that I was one of 3 phone bidders on the silver CS at the Gooding auction, but realized that the 2 other bidders plus one in the room were dead set on buying the car at any price.

What I liked about this particular car in order of importance:
    Factory Stripe
    Non modified
    Leather Interior
Miles (I want to drive guilt free)
    Tools and books included
    Non-Red
    1-owner with complete records
    Non-Standard Options

What shocked me about the price based on:
Miles (a lot for this price)
Red leather (thought that would be a turn off)
Front bumper and side sill repaint
    Front bumper needs another repaint
$10k+ in service needed likely (belts last done in 2019 and very limited miles since then so probably lots of small issues
No PPF, so other small paint imperfections

It was a very very nice driver, but didn't strike me as a top dollar example, but clearly I'm wrong.

I assume 3 bidder really wanted Non-Red factory Stripe to add to Non-Red F car collection, but who knows.

Radio delete, alcantera, etc etc to make as light weight of a build as possible I don't think matters as much as it used to. Horsepower to weight ratios of today's cars makes 50 pounds irrelevant, the desire of the car is the analog experience and what the car represents in the context of current hybrid V6 cars, not in the context of 2004 peers...aesthetics and comfort feel more important, at least to me, because the CS is so different than anything else ever to be built again.

Most likely because the CS rack is already perfect. The thing turns on a razors edge I can’t imagine wanting anything faster. Anything faster would be tedious to stay on top of at all times.

Well said. As the owner of a silver, red and black Alcanterra CS, all that I’ll add is that all these cars will have had their front bumpers painted and side sills painted as well if driven as intended. The aero tray underneath will also be rubbed and scraped, and most likely patched and repaired. It’s very low to the ground and any elevation changes on country roads will cause you to scrape the bottom regularly. Unless you’re driving 45 miles an hour.

Dont call it CS rack its the 360 rack :D Yeah but you need to drive Scuderia and then drive 360 to understand why the Scuderia rack is better
