Well, the 296 was a bit of a surprise. I was expecting it to be very quiet, and very harsh. It was the opposite. It was very noisy (a nice noise too) and the ride quality was amazing. Very compliant and beautifully damped. The engine is particularly refined. It's also quite small next to other contemporary Ferraris save for its substantial girth. Interior quality, this car was swathed in alcantera which I liked. I suppose you'd have to look back in it in 10 years to see what's fallen off.
I was at the dealership the year before, tyre kicking as usual with drools dripping along when one started up. Gave me a fright as I was looking at the 812 competizione..yes , it’s louder than one thought.. Some rich dude and son buying it for mum as her birthday gift .. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, I wouldn't expect any dak-dak awfulness if I'd spent $700K, either! It amazes me that people rave about how good a car is when they've just spent $1M. Of course it's effing good! I remember test driving a lot of cars before we bought our first Lexus SUV. After each drive, mates would ask me what they drove like - they all drove bloody well, they were latest tech and brand new! We settled on a Lexus RX 350 because that's what Gabby wanted all along, so test driving other cars was a waste of time. Mind you, a guy crossed in front of her and she had a head-on a few months later. The air bags, belt tensioners, crumple zones, etc all did their jobs and she and the kids walked away without a scratch. The car was a write-off. So I went out and bought another one.
