According to Kimi2 back in 2022 interview a family friend and ex-sortanotreally F1 driver Enrico Bertaggia named him Kimi, I find it hard to believe his dad and Enrico both racers in motorsport didn't know of Kimi1 in 2006 most likely they are just embarrassed to admit it.

“Actually no. It's a bit of a strange story. My parents wanted to give me a foreign middle name but didn't know which one. In the end Enrico Bertaggia, a friend of ours, arrived and suggested Kimi because she was fine with her first name and surname. Thus the name Andrea Kimi Antonelli” was born.

 

If this result was on a normal, dry, sunny, perfect day race, the naysayers could have their day, but the rest of you can go back to crying in your self-pee filled cheerios, because misery makes you happy.

That was completely insane, and not in the bell curve of races. Hulk and Stroll were on TV 0% of the race....they kinda snuck in there, eh?

That piastri pass was incredible!! Pure emotion fueling that one. Dude was rage driving.

The thing is, it wasn't really raining all that hard.

Heck, we were getting a much harder downpour here during the race than the drizzle they got in Australia. -- And I didn't even lose DBS satellite feed.

What you get when you fill F1 with teenagers.
Half these kids have virtually no experience driving road cars in real world weather.

Any real rain and we might get a season of red flags.
And I shudder to think what gusty winds would do to those cars.

A few months off, ever changing weather, new race officials etc. The grid was a bit slow/rusty it appears. Rookies as well! We learn more each time.

 

There are two cars in the team - so making the same gambling decision for both cars appears as utterly stupid to me.
It's beyond my (probably limited) understanding.

 

So, here is the problem.

We saw qualifying.

And it was normal, dry, sunny and perfect. And the F cars are still a half second + behind per lap.

 

Are they still punishing Williams for refusing to buy Cosworth engines?

Well the driver himself see's this rather differently it appears!!!!!!!!!!!!!

--“I’m just embarrassed and sorry for the team,” Hadjar said, his accident having caused an aborted start to the 2025 season.

“I overdid it, I just over-slipped the rears and once I lost the car, I tried to save it but I was just a passenger it just snapped so fast and I didn’t expect it.

“I'm just mad that these mistakes can happen. Breaking the car so early in the season really breaks my heart. I'm really sorry for the team. I'm missing out on more experience. My first grand prix, missing out on a wet track.”

Asked about Anthony Hamilton’s input, he added: “It means a lot, knowing that he knew where I was, how bad I felt, to go and see me in the worst moment ever.

“I think it's nice gesture from him. I really appreciate that. [He told me to] just keep my head high and be proud of myself. I did well yesterday. Nice stuff.”--
