Good customers don't flip cars - they sell back to the dealer at 50% split or much less to owner. Waiting 2-3 years and being concerned with value is an F chat thing - it's far from reality with 98% or more customers. I doubt anyone getting the call is not taking the VS and if they do say no there Is a list 10 or more deep at every US dealer
I think that’s a function of past performance on VS cars as they never face hard depreciation. Sort of a free option.
A lot of have played this game. Many successfully. Not me. I only buy cars for pleasure- not flipping. That being said- buying cars that maintain there values reasonably well enables me to own more cars or upgrade more easily. There are some super wealthy people who look down upon those that are concerned with depreciation. People so blessed shouldn’t be so arrogant. IMO
It's a very fair comment but there's also no fun in only talking depreciation / allocation. It makes for a very boring thread
I for one am expecting something very special. Ferrari needs to make it so. Too many against the hybrid thing, and this is their chance to prove it.
I got the call, and I am waffling but only because I do not fit in a 296. I own a Pista and the cabin feels cavernous compared to the 296. It’s a shame they made the cabin so small, but I understand the weight penalty that comes with the hybrid setup.
I am interested in this thread, I wonder how true that the dealer has the right to decide who gets the special cars... I have heard that is Ferrari Corp is who decides on who gets a car, so don't let the dealer fool you,,, as you are the list,,, we all could be on the list, but until it is in your garage, you only on the list....
Doesnt work like that, there are poeple that are eligible for such cars and some that arent. Out of that list the dealer decides. These cars are all sold before they are announced. Not just this one but all of the special cars.
Im very excited for what its going to be and think itll be a hit. 296 is an amazing car to begin with and a race road going version of it will be very nice. im sure ferrari is going to make something that will make everyone excited. Theyve been doing it for years and are debatably the best at it.
I have not seen a post like that from anyone - looking down. We all know there is no way to know and it's the worst part of ownership - so why dwell on it. From Dino 288 Enzo F40 LaF no one when they were new or decade later thought they would do well. Tell me one decade old limited edition rear engine that didn't do well.
Why? Simply, because it interests some people and impacts their purchases or sales. If it bothers some- no one forces them to read these posts. I’m buying an almost new 296 at a steep discount. Lower prices bring out buyers. It’s just free markets at work.
Hybrid cars, in limited series or not, have no future in collections, a bit like liquid crystal watches...
La Ferrari? Porsche 918? Cars without manual transmissions have no future in collections? Turbocharged cars have no future in collections? Fuel injected cars… Who makes these rules?
What’s the replacement cost for a LaF battery? I heard numbers that are unfathomably high. I think even the most well healed collectors will think twice about any of the battery cars being collected. Not to mention their finicky nature. Who will even be able to work on them properly when the factory itself can barely manage issues.

Battery prices will only decline with time and improve. What about all the Ferrari’s requiring engine out service every X years. And they remain collectible. Over time- That cost is likely greater than the battery expense. What is the cost of the La Ferrari battery as a percentage of its’ value? Relatively minor? How often has it actually been required to be replaced? Cassandras?
You chose poorly. An unboxed 1st generation iPhone is worth over a million and the battery probably needs to be replaced.
This is a wives tale because they haven’t. Mechanical cars needing engine outs will be more desired because mechanical problems are still simple to find and fix.
XX Hyper car club is not a collectible edition, nor is Spider Coupe - uh huh as it's more limited than 812 Comp selling at 1m plus sticker. We know since you don't like it, therefore no one should - we got the memo 296x Non SF90 owners with VIP could not get one, moving forward all VIP's bought 296, to make sure they get 296VS. I don't buy cars to collect - buy them to drive them and hopefully not kill myself, let's see drive hear VS before we determine it's value. Lets make a bet on first VS sale - sells for less I pay you that amount and sells above you pay me. that amount - we all know how it will go for over and all will sell. Sorry but its reality
Just emailed my dealer, he said I will be on the list, I am super anxious for this car, and I hear the styling is FANTASTIC! We know the performance will be outstanding.
All technology improves and becomes cheaper. Can’t see why this would be the exception. And battery technology is and has been advancing.
