Ditto, it the 1st race under adverse conditions but they look to be headed in the right direction. Qualifying was better for Williams than last years.

Yup. Depends on the cuts of the CF as well where the load=speed pushes down on the CF as speed increases.

I bet they can make it do all kinds of weird stuff now. Tension members inside to keep areas stiff while other move a lot...if there were no restrictions on it and people hadn't figured it out and protested, there would be serious shape changing.

Helmut Marko is from an era where it was considered a weakness to show your emotions in public.

Mr Hamilton Sr has understood that expressing your feelings rather than suppressing them the attitude now.

Yes Helmut, almost as embarrassing as suggesting a "Covid Camp," where drivers could become infected with the virus prior to the 2020 season. Someone needs to put a muzzle on this obsolete old fossil.

I'm surprised he's lasted this long without Dietrich around

Max holding it together with lightening reflexes with slicks on a wet track.

Max avoiding Piastri or Piastri avoiding Max.

He did, posted earlier in this thread, specifically around the exchange with Anthony Hamilton. He was very appreciative.

Thanks, found it (#271). Wasn't really interested in what he had to say about that exchange, more so how he interpreted what happened on the track. Said he 'missed out on a wet track'. Um no, I think he experienced exactly what can happen on a wet track. Surprised he said he was surprised by how snappy the event was. He shouldn't be. Also don't understand his comment about 'being mad that these things can happen'. ?????

Did Oscar think through signing long term? They told him he was #2 again in his home race no less, no racing, blew his concentration.

But his pass on lil Lewee, the IBM of drivers driving the HP of cars was hilarious, and Coultard said: no respect for 7 WDC IBM-er.

Carlos the Savvy - will be missed. He is light-years ahead of most drivers at quick tactical/situational thinking:

“The other one I thought was very interesting was James Vowles post-race said that Carlos Sainz in the garage was very strong at saying ‘you need to switch to inters’. He’s looking at the big picture, he’s been in the car, and he is going ‘this is not drying’.

“Often we get very caught up in the numbers of saying ‘it’s one or two laps of inters, can you survive? That’s better than doing a pit stop. But it’s not. It’s the drying time, and that’s where I think they went wrong, Ferrari. There was a lot of angst on the radio - and that’s a learning curve as well.”

First time I noticed the IBM logo all over the cars. IBM, HP + AWS logos. Seems like a lot of strange overlap there

Supposedly Palantir for AI is still a "partner".

    From Google AI:
In 2025, Palantir Technologies is partnering with Scuderia Ferrari to bring data-driven performance decisions to race operations, with the goal of building ultimate performance, as seen in their partnership announcement earlier this year.
    Here's a more detailed breakdown:
    • Palantir and Ferrari Partnership:
Palantir, a data-driven operations and decision-making software company, has extended its partnership with Ferrari to enhance their Formula 1 race operations.
    • Focus on Data-Driven Decisions:
The partnership aims to leverage Palantir's technology to provide Ferrari with data-driven insights and tools for making real-time performance decisions during races.
    • "Ultimate Performance" Goal:
The partnership's goal is to help Ferrari achieve "ultimate performance" in Formula 1, as stated in their promotional materials.
    • Charles Leclerc and Palantir Demo:
A recent video shows F1 driver Charles Leclerc and a Palantir FDE (Data Engineer) working together in a sim racing scenario, demonstrating the partnership's potential.
    • Lewis Hamilton joins Ferrari:
Lewis Hamilton is joining Ferrari for the 2025 season, adding to the excitement surrounding the partnership.
    • SF-25:
Ferrari has run their new 2025 car, the SF-25, on track for the first time in a shakedown in Italy.
    • Livery Adjustment:
The car features a substantial livery adjustment, with a large white area across its engine cover as part of increased branding from backer HP.
    • "Completely New" Car:
Ferrari has described the SF-25 as being "completely new" ahead of Lewis Hamilton's maiden season in red.
    • Gary Anderson's Verdict:Gary Anderson says Ferrari has changed "99% of the car" for 2025 and says this new suspension configuration is "only the most obvious of many significant changes".

That was not very impressive in any sense. It's one thing to be a Monday morning pit strategist, but when you can see it going so wrong in real-time why isn't it obvious to them?

Like always with software, garbage in equals garbage out - if they have no clue about which data to feed into their decision-helping system, they will keep on making s**y decisions.
That's an even bigger challenge now, with AI systems relying on huge amounts of data (therefore more difficult to control and validate) rather than on smaller data samples (carefully checked) and more pattern matching / deduction capabilities.
