    Electrification and hybridization aren’t the only way to go it seems ..

    it's what they tell their accountant department, anyways ;)

    V10's will make F1 a true spectacle again, there is no doubt in my mind viewership will go up, which is good for revenue, which is good for sponsorship, which is good for teams. Cost of development is far lower, too, as complication is less. So lower cost (keeps accountants happy), more money coming in (keeps accountants happy), better noise (keeps fans happy).

    If they really need to sell it to their accountancy overlords I'm sure they can sell it that development of synthetic fuel burn advances is worth it.

    In Karting I can be as quick as I ever was, but I do feel it way more. In LO206 racing its not that bad, but in KA or Shifters... killer... literally I cant do more than 2-3 laps with out being completely out of breath. But the reason I stopped is two fold. Mostly because the club I belong to cut weekend hours to just the AM, and I'm a hour and half away and dont want to get up on my only time off at 6 AM to run to 11:30. The second reason is I had an accident about a year or so ago, and the pic showed up on social media... and my wife saw it .. lets say freaked out describes it lightly... no injury other than my wallet, and a small abrasion and some gas burns...but that was it. So doing some car stuff but my racing days are over.

    Liberty looks beyond the hardcore F1 fans these days. F1 has become a media circus, far from what it was 20 or 25 years ago.

    For some, F1 is now all about the personalities. They’ve sipped the Netflix/Liberty KoolAid….Which is weird because success is now more linked to the cars than to the drivers.

    100% true. Its a love hate with them. I like that its so popular, that is good, and the teams are doing well financially so its as secure as its ever been, but also the prices to attend have just gone completely crazy, and my ability to get Paddock access has vanished as the prices are so stratospheric... I don't like that at all ( I know that sounds super snobby)... There is Zero Club feeling any more in F1 ... so the exclusiveness is totally gone. its just hedonism at this point Social Media chatter... see and be scene. I really hate the lack of technical spill over into real road cars... the 80's and 90's was great...

    If Ferrari can't show Hamilton some serious forward motion on giving him a competitive car, I think Hamilton could chose to walk away from Ferrari mid season. He wants to go out a winner, or at least on some kind of high note. He does not want to go out, looking as if he brought nothing to the table. The only way to do that would be a mid season retirement.

    John Elkan's job is to maximize share value.... everything he does is gauged against how much more wealth he is bringing to shareholders....

    John Elkann is Chairman of Exor; most of the shareholders are the Agnelli family.
    Exor is supposed to support Hamilton's foundation at the tune if $400M, independently of his $100M retainer fpr driving 2 years for Ferrari.
    I cannot see Hamilton walking away from that, even if the car isn't so good; would you ?

    John Philip Jacob Elkann is an Italian industrialist. In 1997, he became the chosen heir of his maternal grandfather Gianni Agnelli, following his death.
    John is looking after the Agnelli's interest ( majority shareholders).

    Given a choice between his reputation and the money (which he already has enough of) I think he'd walk to save his reputation. No matter what faults the car may have, Hamilton is being paid to bring Ferrari a championship. If Hamilton goes out early, he can point the finger at them, and he still gets the GOAT lable. If he sticks around and can't get the car upfront, Ferrari could drop him as their form of face saving. Hamilton isn't going to let that happen. That's why he left Mercedes. And by the middle of this season, whatever boost Hamilton brought to the Ferrari name will have run its course and be over.

    it's to his own time here. What people don't seem to get is, we don;t need Hamilton to win a WDC. We need a proper car, proper strategists and strategy to win races. We have/had good drivers in Charles and Carlos.

    Modern F1 is a game of cat and mouse, see who can preserve what the most. Gone were the days of Michael's Magny Cours 4 pitstop and 3 pitstop at Hungary. The cars are designed to be slow and managed rather than flat out these days.

    What John Elkann did was to sign an advertising signboard. That's all.

    Records are meaningless now! Max has won more races in a season than the likes of Senna, Prost, Lauda, etc., raced in a season. HAM had the benefit of performance advantages locked in. They kept changing the rules to prevent Schumacher from doing what he did best.

    That's exactly that ! As long as Ferrari brand stays in the news, Elkann will be satisfied, and Hamilton will help that.
    The idea that they are after championship at all cost for Hamilton is rather far fetched.
    Hamilton will get $400M, not for him, but his foundation to help children of ethnic minorities to get into engineering, higher education, etc ...
    Exor should obtain some tax relief in exchange, I guess for financing a charity. So everyone will be winning.

    To call a 7 time world champion a billboard is a whole new level of cynicism and quite frankly hate. Let’s see how the season pans out. It’s seems like the cars are converging so it’s matter of who develops their car the most given we have a rule change next year. I believe Hamilton’s experience could be the difference in this respect, for too long Ferrari have missed a driver who knows how to lead a team on a consistent development curve.
    Charles is an unbelievable driver but he is not a leader, at least not yet.
