Oh, did Lance race? I mean did he do more than drive 57 laps?

    Yes he did.

    - He didn't go out on the formation lap.
    - He didn't get stuck in the grass/gravel.
    - He didn't rear end anyone during a couple of safety cars.

So yeah, he kept it clean and tidy for once!!;)

While many spun and crashed, Lance kept it clean and scored an amazing 6th place.

Meanwhile his much more experienced and better teammate Alonso stuffed it into the wall.

6th place is terrific but of course that's also because of the chaos of this particular race. The Aston Martin is nowhere near there. Quali positions of 11 and 12 (IIRC) are more like where the car is and where they will end up normally.

Well, he finished 6th after a difficult race in tricky conditions, so yes, he raced.

As one of his supporters, I was fully satisfied by the way he drove today.

Indeed, he drove this race, no one to blame. It was the luckiest day in his career. ;)

    Let's see a repeat.

It is hard to hide behind 'luck' after 57 laps in a Grand Prix car. The kid drove a good race. He just needs to have more days like that more often.

He is good at the mixed weather conditions. Remember that's how he once got pole? It's kinda weird that he is better with inters than with slicks in the dry. Go figure.

Rob, this was a very peculiar race, is was almost as if anybody could have won it. Many mistakes, it was a bit of a Scalextric race, and finished as such,
unless you were really really dumb / unlucky / daring. You are right:
    But, I seriously doubt it.

Indeed Lance did drive a good race, did not have mishaps, was barely shown on camera, so I ignore if he raced by the skin of his teeth / not. I just want to see how he'll fare in the dry (if dry), the next race.
Any idea what his ratings were for this race? I give Antonelli a 90 for 5th, and Lance a 50 for a 6th, just for finishing a race. Such is F1.

His previous Grands Prix, have never been a bright star, and when you compare to Antonelli, a 1st timer, there is no comparo.

My only ifs and buts, he does not belong in F1, and would not be there if it weren't about the family connection. Seriously, if I were Dad, I would hire someone else.
Probably a strategy to keep him, of which sort I ignore, as definitely nonsensical.

When the pilot's market opened up for this year, did anyone (crickets) look for him? After all he has had tons more experience that all
the rookies that were in Oz, and clearly, he would have to be a fool to take any offer, not that he was ever considered, at least I am assuming, and behind close doors,
and incur into the photo ops / adverts that AM gets if he were not there.

I mean, I prefer to be a mid level, so-so talk of the town, than just one more nobody that does not quite achieve as Alonso does (achieve).

    Kind regards,
    Alberto

I did the tool kit strap and the air pump straps. The air pump I needed 5/32”x5/8”, but the toolbox 5/32”x1/2 worked. Got the straps from two red birds.

Lance did another clean drive and thanks to the clowns on the Ferrari pitwall inherited a few points. Good for him.

That said, once again the AM was midfield at best and this was again another anomaly. Under normal circumstances there would be no points.

Brutal. I feel bad for Alonso.

Things will change quickly though. I bet next race Alonso will beat Lance to the finish line. But it'll be likely outside the points and not matter.

An absolutely blistering quali in Japan today by the Stroller, showing us everything he’s capable of.

The more he's around the worse he looks. I would hate to be the laughing stock of F1. If there was a P25, he'd be it :)
Guess he sleeps very well. What a bum.

Guess there were wind gusts for the whole race today too? Started last, stayed last, finished last.

Pretty oblivious performance by Stroll today. Made up some places on the start, somehow lost them later and was basically invisible all day. Not to different to other drivers but this is the Stroll thread after all. Still has more points than Alonso in 2025 :D
