Standard Socialist playbook: ‘This will backfire’: Le Pen allies hit out at Paris court’s 2027 election ban verdict
So looking at Trump's tariff announcements today, I can't help wondering - does he think running a country is like running one of his businesses? That you can declare bankruptcy, avoid your debts and just start over?!?!? The rant about Australian beef needs a simple reply - when we produce enough of our own, why would we import anyone else's? On the other hand though - why the hell are we importing US pork? Hopefully the 10% tariff will be enough to swing back to local producers; encourage more stock.
Have a look at your local S/market or deli and check where any of their processed off the bone pork.ham.bacon product comes from. The majority is from North America. That's why I was happy to find the Noosa product in our IGA. Mind you it's the same situation with most S/market marine product, the bulk comes from Chinah.
I do - I read the lable on EVERYTHING I buy... luckily I get fabulous local Peachester ham off the bone (but it's $47kg so probably not viable for the average family with teenagers) and Aussie bacon (but I have to drive to 2 different places to get it... Luckily we get lots of local seafood here.
So the biggest loser in Trump's tariffs is Cambodia on 49% tariff. Given that US biggest export to Cambodia is vehicles (50% of US exports) and the MEAN income is $24,000 pa (vs US $60,000) I'm really curious HOW Trump thinks Cambodians could possibly increase their US purchases???? Especially since it is the lowest paid who are likely to lose their jobs (largely textile and footware workers) if sales fall off in the US...
Oddly, lobster is one of my less-favoured seafoods - give me a good mudcrab or Moreton Bay bug any day over a lobster.
This was not directed at you per se but at every Aussie on here. As with my local mates there are some that DGAF BUT still complain about not having an Aussie manufacturing industry, not having an Aussie car industry, not buying locally, not using local tradies. My dumbo ex wife got a shonky Cairns builder to build her Pondarosa..she still has issues and they take months to come and sort it.,she bought a crappy Hisence (no f**king sense) TV in Cairns on price..it failed after 3 months..it took 6-8 months to get sorted....you make your bed......
Crabs are like Porsches, for the masses Ferraris are for the elite Lotus is like eating a Macca's .... sorry Steve Not that I'm a snob but going from a Ferrari to a Lotus is like going from your mistress to your wife
Classic Hungarian translation, the like of which we may never see again!! Do you vaaaant, waaaaant, to come beck to my place??? Bouncy bouncy ??
Yes “my hovercraft is full of eels” is good, but “mah nipples explode with delight” is less oft’ used. Hence the 10 points
I can't imagine how difficult it must be to get tradies up there - everyone wants to live here but tradies are an endangered species. (of course it doesn't help that if the surf is good they all disappear to the beach, but that is now the least of our problems). There is not point in buying expensive 'brands' these days - my 12 month old Bosch dishwasher has rust spots on the 'stainless steel'
I buy sliced stuff; I don't eat industrial quantities! Plus the Noosa stuff is nowhere as good, IMHO.
No, I don't think he does think that. Most governments run like this. They screw money out of the middle class and employers through punitive taxation which is usually allocated towards enabling bad behavior. Everything from welfare to expanding the public service. Being paid to have children, union thuggery around infrastructure projects and pandering to minorities through countless "think tank" taxpayer funded groups of virtue signaling caldrons of deluded mediocrity abound. What's incredible about the above, is they subsequently run out of money. Instead of being financially responsible, governments realise they won't be around in a term or two, and their conduct is completely unaccountable, so they start printing more money. Their legacy is a mess left for the next government to provide more band aid fixes to the train wreck. Victoria a good example of such a system. It's a compelling case that people are fundamentally morons. Is it your position that if you ran a business, and gold plated the staircase in your office with three months of your staff's wages, it would be OK to print more money to pay these wages? Beef farming in Australia is not viable. Once the backbone (pun intended) of our country, it's simply a dying endeavour. You need to get out a bit more and speak to people who work the land. Ask them about the changes to superannuation funds, employing farm hands and taxation.
Another thing killing farming is councils allowing rural subdivisions, there would have to be 100 5 and 10 acre lots within 10kms of me either for sale or recently sold. What this means to the farmer is that the valuer general now thinks his land, which was worth $2000 an acre, is now worth $25000 an acre and up go his land taxes making his business less viable.
Umm no it's not a problem,if you are in dire need one of 'em will drop everything to help. Case in point,my water heater failed a couple of weeks ago,my mate,it's the country so youse all have mates, sorted it within 12 hours of the phonecall. My rentacar mechanic will pretty much drop everything to get a wrench onto anything I bring in that needs an immediate fix,on the other hand I can drop a vehicle in that's clear for at least a few days and say you've 3 days to sort the problem OK?..as I spend about $70k a year with him he's happy to oblige.
Ummm ...no the tradies up here don't give a flying f**k about surfing seeing as how we've the best fishing in Queensland up here. They're way more likely to pissoff up north for a few days to catch a feed of either Barra or a bunch of reds off the reef.
You live, near enuff,to the beach and leave your patio doors open...of course everything starts to rust!
