I guess the trick is figuring out how friendly on not friendly the local dealer is to mods. Also heard that NYS not sure about other states has laws that forbid a blanket warranty void based on mods and manufacturers have to show that failure was the result of the modification. I don’t plan on doing any tunes to modify the ECU just the exhaust.

Yeah I get it... I was bored and responded...trying to add value and good truthful conversation to a typical thread. I am really about to give up trying to explain and re-type everything every week. LOL.

I was just at my Ferrari dealer taking my service guy something I got for him. I was walking around and a guy was looking at cars... a SF90. He said he was getting it and taking it to this place here for exhaust just to make it louder but no " chip" in it. Well we all here....most of us here know you can't change these modern day cars with GPF and all the exhaust sensors in the exhaust that monitor back pressure and o2 with out altering the ECU is someway...either tune or Novitec piggy back if it fits a Novi exhaust. Anyway I just said, yeah cool dude go enjoy! See ya!...he will find out soon enough.

I got my F8 Spider back today. 250 Capristo sport cats and novitec valved exhaust. Took it for a 15 min drive but was during rush hour traffic in LA. So far no codes whatsoever. Sounds amazing. Not as good as the 812 but a marked improvement. Will be taking it for a real drive very early tmw morning so I can open it up properly. Will report back but so far so good.

Still waiting for delivery of my identical system, post a video if you can!
I’m sure it won’t be super loud with 250 cats, but it should sound much better than stock.

Mostly because i live in NY and we have a mandatory yearly inspection and if the car has codes it will not pass inspection.

Ultimately it does not matter how friendly the dealer is with engine mods since your warranty is with Ferrari the manufacture. The dealer doesn't approve warranty, Ferrari the car manufacture does. A dealer can help out in situations but if you have an engine, electrical issue and you've put on aftermarket exhaust and you will have to tune the ECU for this, Ferrari the manufacture requires ecu download and photos of your car and they will find out what mod's you have.

Excellent. I was just running errands with my F8 this morning and thinking about you, others and this thread. I envy you...in a good way..LOL.

Moding these cars really comes down to someone's financial means I truely believe. For me I will be honest, I can afford the car, afford the mod but I feel a lot better about having warranty because if I had transmission issues or a $30k or more turbo or other engine issue I could pay for it but it would really really hurt. I am no where near the financial means as most are here I tend to believe.

Post up some pics of your F8 since it is a rare spec! Honestly @Faider I am happy your got the car, did your mod and are pleased. Excellent!!!

totally understand and makes perfect sense. I will say my 812 was in the shop for 3 months with an engine cover oil leak with exhaust and cats intact and they didn’t say a word. Work was completely 100% covered under warranty but I understand the concern.

Went for a 2 hour drive to the Channel Islands this morning in both the F8 and 812. Did a 2 hour run in each car. Totally clean. No codes in either. Same setup for both with capristo 250 cats. F8 is a novitec exhaust and 812 is capristo. 0 CEL

F8 sounds significantly better. Game changer. Was a blast

then I drove the 812. Blew my mind. I’ve never had both cars at the same time. Always an issue with one or the other when I had my pista spider and 812 and now I finally got to back to back the F8 and 812. Was shocked I enjoyed the 812 more. F8 is faster, handles better and now with the sound it’s solid. But man that 812 sound is other worldly. now that it’s opened up its just unreal.

i am on a mission now to find a road in a non residential neighborhood where I can really open both up and do fly bys to video and post. It’s harder than it seems in SoCal. I’m open to any suggestions from anyone in socal. Trying to get this done today.

Very interesting wonder if lasts or just takes several runs for codes to come up. Are you using a tectronic module or something similar to keep the car from displaying codes?

So on your F8 you did 250 cel cats, removed the GPF and muffler and replaced with a x pipe with no piggy back tune or ECU tune and you have no CEL?

I need to triple check on the GPF delete but I believe when you remove the muffler on the F8 the GPF is attached. I replaced the exhaust and yes 250 capristo cats. No OBD device and no tune. I didn’t put an X Pipe on. Probably should.

The Novitec is an X pipe design and I think simply removing the OPFs (which all the F8 systems do) immediately triggers a CEL, which the Tectronic then removes. But it does NOT remap the ECU.

Not sure how that’s possible unless someone at some point tuned the ecu.

Yep! Got the dreaded CEL this morning on the F8. Engine failure take to dealership. Taking it to my motorsports guys tmw to see what can be done. May need to go back to OEM exhaust. I wont tune the car. That’s too much for me. I’d consider the OBD plug in. Hey I got a clean 48 hours….

I think that's going to be easier said than done, after experiencing the car with a whole new sound, will you really be able to go back?

I don’t know. NGL driving the 812 right after the f8 the last few days really kinda blew all my excitement for the new F8 sound. Kinda did it to myself….

You’re not helping my strategy of taking that 812 off your hands.
