It took 5yrs but GM has fired the chief exterior designer for the C8. https://www.corvetteblogger.com/2025/02/04/kirk-bennion-is-the-other-corvette-team-member-that-was-recently-fired-from-gm/
^^^ I agree that the C8 styling is clumsy in certain ways…that said, Kirk also designed the C7, which is the best looking of the modern Corvettes, IMO.
I find it hard to believe that these 2 Chevy designers were solely responsible for the C8 boomerang on the side and the "fast & furious" rear end. I expect those were the idea(s) of top management or too many cooks. If anything, management tasked these principals with putting lipstick on their own lame ideas.
Interesting story about many unsold C8's: https://www.thedrive.com/news/time-to-lowball-your-chevy-dealer-for-one-of-the-5500-unsold-c8-corvettes
I paid exactly $89K for a 3LT Z51 Convertible with about every option. Its now 4 years old and I have no plans to get rid of it. Yes you might be able to get a new one at $70K and less, but its not going be top of the line. Those who paid over MSRP are the ones being burned.
Wow! That sure snuck up quietly. Guess there's been a big change in the punch bowl level since I last checked.
I think GM sent me an email a few months before the warranty expired. I called around a bit and decided to sign up. https://www.knappvehicleservicecontracts.com/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwytS-BhCKARIsAMGJyzoDFFhuwLldK_9RyLUFY804gIF-5U5MnB_3-YFXP-XdskKu5ktghJ8aAt86EALw_wcB I think its run by a 3rd party for GM and GM itself.
Doesn’t look like it covers the convertible top and that’s the only issue I’ve had with the car so far.
Under exclusions. I think I’m still going to buy it as the Platinum is only $1400 and there doesn’t seem to be another alternative. Image Unavailable, Please Login
“binyl and conv tops” is vague. vinyl is like uphostery. i would expect conv mechanical issues would be covered.
