The Ferrari 12Cilindri has been awarded the prestigious Car Design Award, a coveted recognition in the automotive design sector. The award ceremony, attended by Flavio Manzoni (Ferrari Chief Design Officer) representing the Prancing Horse, took place today in Milan at the ADI Design Museum during the Milan Design Week. The Car Design Award was established in 1984 and is aimed at projects that have significantly contributed to the evolution of automotive design. The winners of the Car Design Award have always been selected by a jury of experts, representatives of the most prestigious automotive publications at international level. Five Ferraris have received awards in the Production Cars category since 1984: the first was the Testarossa in 1985, followed by the Ferrari Roma in 2020, the 296 GTB in 2022, and the Ferrari Purosangue in 2023. The Prancing Horse Design team won the prestigious award in the same year in the Brand Design Language category. The ADI jurors chose the 12Cilindri because “the design of the 12Cilindri encapsulates the historical essence of the Ferrari V12s of the Fifties and Sixties, revisited and taking into account the aerodynamic requirements that today are a science and no longer just an intuition. An indissoluble link with tradition that looks to the future and has led this project to unite two souls, sportiness and elegance, to create an out-of-the-box icon.” Image Unavailable, Please Login
Interview with retiring GM VP Design, Michael Simcoe https://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/2025/04/10/design-michael-simcoe-gm-warren-studio/82665216007/?fbclid=IwY2xjawJk0GNleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHnD_9L-taK295raIUz7QzmxylLVBLqLvzsqHeew3jGuyzgbRhq63cmQjWV8-_aem_QAwWX0cJ9zyHS8xL-PGFeA
So, how does that work? Do the ship the cars with bodies in situ, or are they repackaged in the fitted luggage?
The electric drivetrains lack soul so it takes considerable effort to include a free ghost with every new Jaguar. All the best, Andrew.
can't recall the exact year, but I believe @1991-92. Chuck retired in '92 and the car was done when the new Eldo/Seville were introduced as '92's.
There are some things about it Im not a fan of, but I think its a big improvement over the last few V12s. The F12 and 812 were pretty garish. Looked like they were designed by a teenager.
The news blurb seemed to imply (to me) that these were running/driving cars ready to roll onto the boat.
I hate YouTube click bait! Saw this interesting old futuristic concept car advertised at the end of another video. The actual video turned out to be about 12 discontinued muscle cars. Anybody know what this concept car may have been? Maybe AI has run out of new ideas and is now making over old cars? Image Unavailable, Please Login
That looks to be an AI classic... is kind of hideous but sadly still cooler then 90% of the cars on the road. ----------- One of the La Ferrari concepts Image Unavailable, Please Login Oh, specially in the concept vision version. Image Unavailable, Please Login
In the seventies, Morelli collaborated with Pininfarina's Fioravanti and Antonello Cogotti again to develop the CNR-PF, a four-seat passenger car with a drag coefficient of 0.172. which I nicknamed "la Gobba" Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is a bit confusing for me! I’m not a GM guy so I don’t know all the nuances. Didn’t the Newbury Park Studio close down in the early/mid 90’s and then reopen in 2000 in Burbank? Haga I think passed away in ‘88. I think Frank Saucedo was the last head of the Newbury Park Studio and was the one who opened the “new” Burbank Studio in 2000. He works with me now. I was invited by Strother MacMinn in the mid 80’s to visit Haga and his wife at their house. Aside from that, the Cadillac is a ‘99 model which would have made it difficult to have in ‘91/‘92.
OK now you’ve got me confused! My timeline may be off, however, the California Studio opened with Hank Haga in the mid ‘80’s, followed by J.Schinella then T. Henline. Jordan retired in ‘92. I thought that car was done for Jordan, but maybe not, that’s where I could have it wrong. I’ll reach out to my pals and figure it out.
Tom Peters was the Director of the California Studio when it was done. Built by California Street Rods. Tom said early - mid ‘90’s
