Do you drive it hard? Like how often do you push full throttle from 0 to 100 mph? I do it like every time I drive, do you think that would add a lot of heat and could effect the lifetime of the battery?
South Florida has always been harsh on batteries, my car is 50/50 garage outside , always on a tender I use interstate battery and change It every 3 years.
I bought my 2015 in November, 2019. I don't know how long the battery was in the car, but I changed it for an Interstate in November, 2021. So I'm coming up on 3 years now. I don't drive the car much from spring to fall since I have my 612. So it's on a CTEK 7002 much of that time. I'm just starting to drive it regularly now so its not on the tender at all. Maybe my cooler tempertaures will be kinder to the battery than Daniel's harsh heat!
It is a mix for me, I don’t do full throttle each time I drive. Sometimes I just cruise around, other times more of a sporty drive. The engine bay does get very hot though. Although most of the time in the UK the temps are not too high.
maybe the Lusso is a little more involved than the FF? Not sure. I’ve read some threads on here about people having a hard time shoehorning it out and the new one in.
We’ve kind of digressed from the PTU thread topic, but do you have the Interstate battery info? Mine is a 16 and battery is a few months over three years old. Still working fine yet a good fall project to replace it. I’ll pick one up at Costco.
I had my PTU replaced by Martin Parkes a couple of months ago without having a problem. Maybe the only problem I had, is that I had read on FC: Option 3 £7950 GBP Bring your car to our workshop in Ullenhall near Birmingham. We carry out the full job including removal, repair and refit of the PTU. This includes all required fluids, Repair and labour. and that I had to pay 8k GBP plus VAT - which has not been made explicit in the posts by Martin & colleagues, which I consider unusual it concerns a price without VAT - making it 9,6k GBP. Can anyone confirm having to pay 9,6k GBP incl. VAT?
Cost seems correct to me, in the UK it isn't uncommon to advertise costs excluding VAT to either businesses or have +VAT on the end
Thx, so if I understand well in UK it is common as well to have +VAT at the end if the price concerns consumers. Correct? In The Netherlands only repairs are often quoted 'ex VAT', but the 'ex VAT' is then always made explicit in word or text. That is why I was surprised that I had to pay VAT, because it was not made explicit that the prices on FC were ex VAT. In all other consumer cases prices in NL are quoted including VAT.
Spent the morning at Ferrari FtLauderdale ( buying a car for a friend) , had time to visit with most of the techs, in the last 12 months they have replaced/ repaired four PTU, Hopefully this info helps.
In truth he scares the hell out of me, Who would ever purchase a Ferrari if they had first watched his videos.
Hello Arend. Thank you for the information and welcome to FChat. Sorry to hear about your PTU failure. Has it only just happened?
The car was delivered june 2018, ptu died okt 2023. Besides: greatest car ever: beast and limo. Image Unavailable, Please Login Honestly I’m quite shocked by the list of the Califorian expert:
Yes, so was I. So I started a thread to track FChatter’s experiences relative to his predictions and, so far, we have quite a few owners whose cars have confounded his dire warnings. Nice to see that you use yours as its maker intended. Same here; Image Unavailable, Please Login
but without replacing the fork, as Martin does. Although I did not quite understand what harm there is in the (old) fork..
