Porsche Won Major Races With EV, Hybrid, And ICE All In The Same Day

Last Saturday Porsche Motorsport found itself on the top step of the podium in all three of the major international racing classes that it entered.

Nobody does it like Stuttgart. Last Saturday Porsche Motorsport found itself on the top step of the podium in all three of the major international racing classes that it entered, and each of the cars was propelled by a different type of drivetrain. The Porsche Penske 963 with a hybrid turbocharged V8 engine won the GTP class and took the overall victory at the Long Beach Grand Prix IMSA race, that team's third win in as many races. In the GTD category AO Racing's fan favorite "Rexy" 911 GT3 R won, also at Long Beach, with the 911's iconic high-revving all-gasoline flat six. And earlier in the day on the other side of the country the Tag Heuer Porsche 99X Electric team took the win in Formula E's Miami E-Prix. Gas, hybrid, and electric, Porsche wins with all three.

Porsche makes strong cars that live good long lives, handle well, ...
Porsche makes engines that last long, have good power, make good noise, and last a long time
Porsche has won in every kind of racing it has entered, ...
    But
Porsche has never made a car I would want to be seen driving.

The inverted bath tub is "not me".

Would love to spend a day racing around town in a 356 Speedster or 550 Spyder.

Really lol. No problem selling every 911 they make etc etc. Same for Ferrari. Most dont care and that includes F1. Ferrari do not need F1 at all. How long now for a title lol :) Le Mans is as powerful a single win as an F1 title. The glory is the same if not greater for that challenge and incredibly compelling. Porsche has even won Dakar. I find that interesting as well. They race. Thats a good thing overall.

That is better than the typical Porsche: But still not much more than "meh".
The Porsche I would take is a 917K short tail in Gulf livery (with air conditioning).

But as someone who like F355 much better than F360 for exactly the same stylistic reasons--F355 is crisp and small while F360 is bulbous and large. Much like the comparison for Fiat X1/9 versus Triumph TR7 of yesteryear. ...

I, personally, would take 288 GTO (or F40 or 365 GTB Daytona, in that order) over any other Ferrari.

Quite an accomplishment but all those wins pale in comparison to being an F1 champion. Deep down they know that! ;)

I would take a Porsche 962 in Lowenbrau livery or Rothman livery.

A GTR (1998) isn't bad either but I would stiffen the rear suspension or tweak it where the front end doesn't lift and becomes airborne.

    Perhaps but I doubt it.

It’s the only accomplishment left for them. Imagine if they could win in F1? It would unequivocally prove their dominance.

I’m not knocking them, I just think as a competitor it’s really the last missing piece of the puzzle.

Chance of me fitting in a 917 or 962, short of cutting of my legs at the knees, are impossible.

So I'd be more than happy with a CGT :)

I love sportscars. Porsche race like no other overall. Impressive they are. Im happy Ferrari are doing well in WEC as well. The classic competitors!

I liked Ferrari in endurance in the early 60s, but the defeat by Ford broke them.
Porsche took over and Ferrari faded away.

Hoping Ferrari do more outside of F1. F1 is not at all the best racing overall.
