Sold my absolutely beautiful and perfect '15 Speciale late last year, wasn't driving it as much as I intended and if I don't use it I likely move on

Since then haven't had a Ferrari in the garage, that will change soon enough! Wish it could have been a tdf, but that will have to wait and this was what I wanted next. Wasn't going into the canyons much anymore (relocating to Las Vegas this week), 12C/296/SF90 doesn't interest me, and wanted something with a high build quality, solid feeling, good stereo and vicious nature.. looking like this 2018 high spec titanio example will be arriving in the coming weeks and can't wait

Thought shieldless would have been a dealbreaker for me, but actually really really like this stealthy spec especially with race seats

Not much to say other than I'm very very very happy with this car, which is a bit surprising to me as a "standard production" car vs my last 3 which were special series Speciale -> Tdf -> Speciale

Engine/exhaust sound, build quality/fit and finish, a vicious nature that requires very judicious throttle application if tires are cold or any gear below 4 as the rear will break loose instantly (had a few **** my pants moments already), comfy cruiser when needed, great stereo which matters to me

Quite different than my Speciales which were far more easy to push, more singular "track" in nature, nowhere near as good build quality/fit and finish, feel more analog and dated.. not necessarily bad attributes by any means

I was very picky on spec and this one with carbon door sills, carbon diffuser, carbon everything including race seats really feels special

I like what Rob (italiafan) used to say where you drive the mid engined V8 to feel like the star running back or wide receiver, but you drive the front engine V12 to feel like the owner

Of the 6 (six) people I've known who owned (past tense) an 812SF, none kept theirs.

I’m sure there are people who do keep them long term just not common. It could be due to variety of things such as people owning these cars want to scratch an itch without turning into an expensive mistake with depreciation/repairs, or perhaps this car like other V12s, is expensive to really repair. Some of the issues like oil leaks or body repairs on A pillar due to stressed sheet metal are very expensive to fix yourself. Or it could be things like really loud and difficult oil check procedure or dead batteries not lasting a year become too much of a headache to your average V12 owner who drive 200 miles every 2 months at the most. They are delicate cars and they require specific care.

I have been looking to buy one for 2+ years, I actually recently drove 3.5 hours to look at one but the car had clear oil residue on the block where head gasket is and the dealer would not investigate or take responsibility saying plenty of people buy them with or without these issues (but then perhaps those plenty of people run into these issues later and thats why 6 people you know didnt hold their car).

Its an amazing engine but as Enzo said, the rest of the car is really thrown in for free.

Bought ours in 2018. Still have it seven years later. Now you know one person who kept theirs! :)

Have those 6 people kept other cars? How long? And what cars? I don’t know anyone that keeps their cars. I’m a complete anomaly among my friend group. My 812 SF ownership period was like 5.5 years and only gave way for an 812 GTS that I have had for 15 months.

Wait…how long have you had the F8? The RS is still somewhat fresh! I think 2-3 years or more is the threshold for “keeping cars”.
