I'd lose the JDM wheels but the front with the SP Deborah like lights and the full body color looks good.
I don't really warm up on body colored visor. Things would be different if it hadn't been designed to be visor like element popping out of the body and forming an union with the mesh below it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Tailor Made appointment completed, the team there is absolutely amazing. I went in having zero ideas as to what to do, aside off the fact that I really wanted a full black top including the engine cover and the rear wing and they have been incredible in working with me to achieve what I wanted. I wanted a race car look but didn’t want to make the design too polarising selecting out there colors, I wanted a fairly monochromatic scheme which accentuates the crazy lines of the car, I am really loving the spec, all pre design anxiety has gone. I have spent more time with the car looking and all the details, it will be absolutely incredible seeing it on the road in all specs, I honestly can not wait for this car to be delivered. The story of the visor that Flavio Manzoni fitted to the front of the F80 began over 50 years ago in 1969 with the 365 GTB/ “Daytona”. Early cars sported fixed round headlamps covered under a plexiglass visor that stretched across the width of the car. This did not comply with US regulations and when the car finally went on sale in the US in 1971 the lights were changed to pop up units which were standardized for all markets shortly after. In the photos it is clear that the visor makes the front of the 1969 Daytona quite different from the later model with pop up lights. When Flavio Manzoni designed the front of the 12 C what he did was to reinterpret the front of the Daytona “Plexiglass” by changing the shape of the head lights but keeping the visor, this time only just to connect them and not cover them. In the case of the F80's front end, what Manzoni did was take the initial idea of the Daytona "Plexiglass" and create a dark visor that gives the impression that it stretches across the width of the car. If you look at the bottom side of the visor of the 1969 Daytona, you can see that there is a very thin lip that separates it from the grille. In the case of the F80, this lip seems excessively thick to me and IMO this is one of the reasons why the visor effect is better on the Daytona. Congratulations, this is an excellent setup and thank you for sharing it with us. The contrast achieved between the dark and light parts of the car, including the front visor, is wonderful. What is the name of the color?
Thank you, I am really loving how it turned out, the color is called Bianco Mille Miglia, I wasn’t too fixated on any particular white I just wanted a bit of pearl in it to contrast with the rest, I have also done a similar spec in Sanu Silver, it looked very good but white works better. The black visor is an interesting element which gives an identity to the car, it can be well integrated if you are working it into the spec and tie it to other elements, my spec has some symmetry between the visor and the rear wing, it’s quite difficult to see in the renders but the large section of the front aero intake has a faded paint gradient which goes all the way to the front intake where it is fully black, I can not wait to see it done. I am still waiting for an approval to do the engine cover in exposed black gloss carbon, if they approve it I will do the engine cover, the top of the roof and the visor all in carbon if not I will do it in gloss black.
The color is called Bianco Mille Miglia and no shields because there are no other yellow elements on the side to complement it and I like the cleaner look.
Thats a fantastic spec, congratulations! I will be a little argumentative- there is some yellow, the Ferrari badge at the front I think you should have the shields, but thats just my opinion.
Just heard on the Ferrari earnings call that they will not be taking in second deposits until Q4, which means production on the first cars will not commence until Q4, most likely EU cars first.
Nice to see your spec, nice to see its so much different than mine. I am excited to see dramatic variations on personalization on these cars, unlike all the Big 5 of the past.
Thank you very much. I am quite OCD, I agree with you that there is yellow in the front badge and I already thought about that but it is not visible from side on and if anything yellow is placed along that section it will introduce a fourth color and I can’t live with that, I might add the badges and replace them later with carbon ones, I will consider it, thank you for the suggestion and getting me thinking about it.
I have seen some specs already and they are all quite radical and different, some did not hold back and it was great to see, I am looking forward to seeing the specs released for public viewing, I am looking forward to the reactions. I was thinking to withhold my spec until production but since not many are sharing I thought it would be beneficial to share.
The picture below is of an F8 spider finished in Bianco Mille Miglia and the paint color looks quite different from the one in the render of your F80. Since it is impossible to trust colors in any picture or render, as they rarely properly reproduce what the eyes see, there is really nothing that can replace seeing a color in person. Does this Bianco M.M. in the picture is close to what it is in reality? Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was going to suggest the carbon shields, but it looks like you already addressed that you're open to the idea. Were they not available through tailor made?
Thank you for that, all I wanted is a nice white, I am not too fixated on exactly what it is, I am more after the contrast between it and the rest of the colors, the F8 looks stunning to me in that color.
Unfortunately not, Ferrari will no longer offer any other color variations to their badges and shields they all have to be yellow, the only option is aftermarket. I did ask and I was told no
Props on the shield delete. It’s obvious you’re driving a Ferrari, so keeping it clean looks perfect in my eyes
Wow, I didn't know they started tightening up on the branding. I guess that started after the SF90? Thank you for the info!
