I think the 296bis the car everyone asks for... I just wish it wasn't hybrid but .. it does that incredibly well too. It has style fun passion it's nimble and feels light. It's not some massive fat rich guy missle. The car is awesome.
Interesting, I'd love to hear more about it. I'm under the impression they've built a much more 'tame' and GT-like kind of V12, vs the more super sports GT 812. Would love any color you can add as to how it's significantly better.
Whilst a lot of people complain about the 296 being a hybrid, and I understand why, the battery really does go a looooooong way to making the performance what it is due to the way it infills the torque curve.
i really enjoyed the 12C. Everything that @day355 said about how good the car is i agree with too The car is sharper and way more agile and sporty than the 812. I never really clicked with the 812. The engine was fabulous though. 12C, much more confidence inspiring, sharp turn in, better front end feel. The engine is great but unfortunately the gpf is the issue. It needs an exhaust and i will take the 12C over 812 any day. i really wanted to order the car after i drove it…one thing holding me back…the exterior i am still getting used to.
this is what you need! interesting you say it’s more sporty, since the initial reviews painted it as much more GT than sporty beast 812. That’s good news!
it may be perspective as i dont think 812 is sporty either. What i am specifically referring to is i felt the 12c is a better car than 812 as it has a better handling, better front end, gave me more confidence to drive faster than the 812. I felt more connected to the 12C than the 812. 812 the exhaust sounded more visceral but easy to remedy with an exhaust. yea! That novitec is all the 12C needs!
I hear you. I’ll need to go for a proper test drive. I have added a Novitec exhaust and sport springs and these tires, and I can guarantee you it’s pretty sporty! But I can see myself upgrading to the 12C in 1-2 years because of what you’re saying and I think the looks are growing on me, and… the interior is awesome. Image Unavailable, Please Login
>>The only thing for me is the sound. It does sound good in stock form considering it's V6, but it's still fairly muted to my taste, Agreed, a 296 GTS with more raw loud sound would be great, I find it too tame. I recently drove a 488 Spider and prefer its sound over my 296 GTS. I wish Novitec (and similar) exhaust wouldn't void warranty...
same here. Buddy has the 488S and it was indeed much better. net net I may have to invest in another Novitec exhaust. Not my preference but…
I'm sure its a fantastic car in every respect but for me it doesn't pass the biggest test for me. When I walk away from it, am I looking back a 2nd time to marvel at its beauty? No. I've seen dozens of them now at FCA events. I know technically they are a marvel, but for me looks wise, they are ugly and boring. As shallow as it may seem, the looks of a car is more important than a spec sheet.
