ok, now my biggest question..... what stripe options are going to be available ... I wonder if they would allow for the Pista stripe with silver in the middle and black on the outsides and congrats to all those that are the chosen ones.... I am still waiting for the call ......

I'm confused why ferrri shows two preconfigured stripe variations, but no option in the configurator to change the stripe colors, number, etc...

They usually show a few ideas on launch and have something online and the dealer will have more options and then atelier will have more options and tailor made more options still.

I got my allocation, deposit paid, but waiting on price list. Really want to know how much for stripes, how much for the verde Nurburgring, but also just what carbon comes standard with the car...

At present I am leaning towards RC, painted shields, some sort if stripe (VS cars need some sort of stripe, CF sills (I bet these are options and most of the other exterior CF is 'standard', back (maybe blue) Alcantara, a little color here and there in the interior, blue calipers (if we go with Blue interior) and thats about it. I hope this keeps us less than $500k.

setting aside the reality that striped VS cars sell over non-striped, the 296 Speciale has a fairly busy design and a stripe doesn't really add much appeal. You are right.

Ever notice a Challenge Stradale without a stripe? It looks like a 360 Modena.
The 16M with the skinny black stripe was a bit weak to. The livery has become a mandatory accessory for many. Some prefer the clean look but the default look seems to be some sort of livery now...

    I'm neither right nor wrong.
I'm just interested in learning why a VS 'needs' a stripe?
It's more a design /preference question more than anything. No right or wrong answer.

Do y'all with allocations intend to track the Speciale? Also, is tracking convertibles something that happens often? What's the appeal of a track focused car that open up? Sorry for the naive questions, I've never been to the track but might at some point. Edit: Should've posted in the VS thread. Mods please move if better there.

the stripe gives the illusion of elongating the hood and seems more sporting. otherwise its just a big flat hood.

given only one choice i would prefer a stripe over painted shields.

I agree. Stripe has become so strongly associated with VS V8 cars. To me they look odd without them. Have you seen a 488 pista without a stripe? looks naked to me.

Yes, the shields have become a standard option. Even if the new Ferrari buyer isn't a particular fan; the salesperson will note the importance for the resale market. In the same way that some sort of livery is expected now to denote a "Special" version edition. With all that said the Swiss seem to have the monopoly on NO SHIELDS cars.;)
The shields were mistakenly left off of an 812 GTS order by the factory which caused much consternation. Certain options have become a benchmark for a successful Ferrari build.

The VS is meant to be the "sportier" "track-focused" version of the car, both in terms of design and functionality. A livery, such as a stripe, is therefore consistent with the "ethos" of the car.

well, I got an allocation but imma just gonna do the strip aftermarket, like a wrap film, which costs 500 bucks here where I live and you get to dictate the shape and color of the stripe of your fancy.

Not good for resale though, and a stripe less car may be less desirable. Lars

I have never seen a great execution up close , and it is not on the options plaque.

the stripe to the track-oriented cars is like Rolex to the magnifier ... I personally would not consider a vs or xx or speciale or pista or .. without a factor stripe

Friday we option the car and pay the deposit....going to do a low, medium and $$$$ version and then decide when the pricing is disclosed. Ferrari is probably watching what the requested specs are before they release pricing.

No, just no. That's the visual representation of his money disappearing as they charged 3x more for something that only goes 1/5 of the car!
