This is what I meant. From the right side, rear wheel well. Look under the header, at Cyl 1 position. You will find a plug, or a pet-cock, or something. Undo that something and the block drains. There is probably a gallon of coolant left in there. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bingo . Holster your weapons guys . Mine was similar, but with a developed pin hole leak . Once replaced with a black anodised alloy tank from Superperformance the coolant maintains its green colour . I gave the rad a serious flush ( along with the gen system ) as a precaution to rid the orange residue which inevitably gets there .
A The more people on this thread say it’s not oil, the closer I get to sleeping in peace tonight. Jokes aside, any specific instructions to flush the rad? I was thinking of flushing the tank but draining from the front pipe as well as from the block as indicated by @yelcab , then filling it with distilled water, drive, drain, drive, drain, until it’s somewhat clear.
Just buy some radiator cleaner, like Holts or Prestone. Cleans very well. Holts has been used as long as i can remember
Consider replacing the coolant reservoir tank while you're at it. No doubt the already thin steel tank will be even thinner after bathing in water for a year.
