Welcome to Carbon Fiber Addicts Anonymous. My name is Kevin (Hi, Kevin!) and I’m a carbon fiber addict… I’m considering getting CF door sills, but… do they show wear/scratches from general use? Asking for a friend! Kevin
Hi. My name is Joe. And I might have a problem as well I have the sills. I step over them when I get in and out so it’s not a concern. I’ve seen plenty of people slide a foot over though. It all depends on how you move in/out of the car. You can also get them ppf’d if you really wanted but having them polished every few years is not a chore. My lower door seal rubs the very lower edge of the outer sill but it did the same thing with the aluminum ones.
Mine still look like new after 3 years! I am an addict! I got rid of all the stainless steel and alloy in the interior, its taken years off it and looks far more modern !
Hi. My name is John. I didn't have a problem, I'm pretty sure I caught it from FCHAT. Apparently it's been going around. Seriously though, thanks for the tips, I got some and will be putting them in. Now I'll have to explain to my wife how she has to levitate into the car so that she doesn't step on the door sill in addition to not depressing the side of the seat cushion.
Hi everyone, my name is Shane. I refuse to believe I have a carbon fiber issue - I can quit whenever I want. But because I don’t have a problem, I've always looked at getting door sills as well. My slight concern is overdoing it with carbon fiber. I have the factory carbon stuff, but also have doors in carbon. Are door sills getting excessive? I've also considered a center tunnel in carbon.... Where are you thinking of purchasing the door sills from? Some of the guys here somehow find nonexistent scuderia parts they get their hands on but I have had zero luck.
I'd be more worried about the flocked door seal between the carbon areas than the carbon sill. The flocking can easily be damaged and is actually more of a pain to repair than polishing or wet sanding the carbon sill if you scratch it. A few years back, I did a whole thread on fixing the flocking on the seal. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi My name is Lorenzo, I have carbon sills and the correct crossovers for the standard f430. They are like new as I make a good habit to step over them
not yet, car time coming soon I hope dunno, but if you’ve got CF doors, I’d think you’d want to do the sills, and at that point tunnel makes sense too, and at that point, I’d also get those behind the seats covers (on sale now) just my 2 cents That was a nice post , can’t believe I haven’t done it yet!
You're a terrible influence, and I love it. I've never known there to be seat related items for the 430 though! Where the heck is that!?
Well, you got the doors (which must look awesome) They’re not seat related, they’re the covers behind the seats for the electronics and stuff https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/150131169/
It's sounds like I'm one of the few who doesn't mind the odd scratch. When living out of the car on 3 week road trips it's just inevitable that the car will arrive home in a very well-lived state, inside and out I'll probably do something about it eventually.
Wow, I wish those were available for the Coupe with the Bose option. My name is Corey, and I have a carbon problem too...
I had just seen those yesterday and it's very unfortunate they only fit the spider otherwise I would be getting them. Fredrik sells some awesome one-off stuff
