They actually posted this lol. Oh and it was the Ferrari that lost control. The driver was just an innocent bystander.

Unless it was an intentional act, yes. There is a difference (legally) between reckless and intentional.

An example is a DUI crash is reckless and insurance companies pay out every day for that. However, Using your car to crash into a bank is intentional and would not be covered.

** Each state's laws may vary.

I would have to say that was reckless driving of a Ferrari.

It is an interesting one . Looking at it he does not seem to be travelling fast judging by the on coming car and the scenery passing.

I wonder if he hit the gas hard with everything turned off , lit the back wheels up and could not correct it .

Cold tires on a street with dust or dirt with too much pedal. Rookie mistake, IMO.

Also the lifting rather than steady throttle and letting the TC sort things out.

    Looks like combinations of:
    Cold tires
    ESC off
Slight curvy road and floored the gas pedal before road is completely straight

Also, sometimes a professional mistake. Happened in F1 Australia and again this weekend at Indy 500 during the formation lap. :). However in one of those crashes it was a "rookie" driver.

Yeah, leaning in is counterintuitive when your buttcheeks clench.

The Indy 500 crash by McLaughlin was more of a misunderstanding of the conditions versus possibly showing off. Does not eliminate the need for caution at all times, especially when operating million dollar cars for Penske.

if the car is in race mode on cold tires, will the TC and ESC keep the car in check if you stomp on the gas? I don't know how the 296 will react would be helpful to know. i always let the tires warm up regardless.

I concede that it snaps very, very quickly. I did the skidpad activities at Corso and I was shocked at how hard the 296 is to recover from a spin, compared to 458 and other midengine cars. The dense weight of the hybrid system is felt as it spins.

I don't know, all that zig zagging looks like showing off to me. (Please note the extreme sarcasm and attempt at humor).

10000000000000% cold tires without a doubt. I have seen this more time than I can count, showing off leaving a cars & coffee, getting up to speed and then punching it. Nothing cane be done no matter how good of a driver you are. Once the rear tires start spinning 10X times the speed of the car its over!!!

I need to do skidpad with it would be a good time investment.

In mostly norma driving, TC on the 296 overall seems much better than on say the C8 Z06, but not quite as good at super nannying as on modern McLarens.

Which is to say I've not had the 296 step out surprisingly, but have thought it was pretty good at catching a side slip if you're not doing really stupid ****.

And the 2-3 times I tried to get it a bit sideways in controlled ways in an empty parking lot or multi-lane road at night it seemed to catch it fairly well for its weight.

But I almost never completely floor the 296 as 1/3-1/2 is plenty fast to me.
