    Fresh tires really help too, biggest change was going to an 18" wheel with a new tire. Someone here described the "Italian driving position" with hands on the bottom half of the wheel at 4 and 8, and I've found that works well for cruising with my arms relaxed off my thighs.

    More than any other car I've owned it is sensitive to warmup/temperature. And my surprise was how high the engine needs to rev at freeway speeds, even in 5th. I've been pleasantly surprised though when it's good and hot, how it responds well to being pushed rather hard.

    Universally loved, at least. People want to say hey and talk about it.

    I have had my '91 since NOV and I have put about 500-ish miles on it so far. I find it drives quite nice and lives up to the GT Car Mantra. It is not a race car for sure. My 930 Slant Nose is the race car, so I am lucky enough to have both experiences. My TR has 6-year-old Good Year Tires, so the tires need done. I think that I am going with the Pirelli Asymmetric's for a little more modern upgrade vice Michelins. I have the Capristo exhaust, and it is a bit loud I think for a long trip, but it is musical when I am sporting it around on the short haul. So, the OEM Exhaust may be a better match for GT Cruising. I find that I can't hear the Miami Vice Soundtrack. ;) The slant nose is far rarer, but the TR gets way more attention. Get used to people running up on you like they are going to hit you to take your picture. The gas station guy(s) are interesting as well. I haven't found any haters, so I think everybody loves a TR.

    Drive it and enjoy it like it was meant to be!

    Woah, he's throwing the tail out like its a yellowbird :cool:. That's a great video.

    I expect lesser mortals will find themselves in the ditch if the tail steps out. Does the TR snap oversteer or is it controllable?

    Its actually very controllable. TR512 had good enough throttle response and a wide torque curve that throttle steering it is very easy. Leaning on it in a turn then adding enough throttle to gradually use up remaining adhesion is fun in them. Between that and the more rigid chassis and revised suspension it was much friendlier driving it that way than the Testarossa that preceded it. We have a Testarossa and I still dont feel all that comfortable driving it that way but to me a 512TR just begs to be driven like a Sprint car.

    Ive had a couple shorter drives in it now. It is quickly becoming my favorite Ferrari. It’s magnificent.

    Does the seat go up and down? The drivers seat seems to be up a little higher than the passenger seat. I can’t figure out how to make it raise or lower. There are 3 switches on the side of the seat. I know one is the rear tilt. What are the other two?

    Recline, back rest lock and seat tilt. On some years the front bolster pulls straight out for leg support. Some years it is pinned in place. My 90 telescopes.

    Hmm, so center button aka "back rest lock" is what I need to prevent the tilt from activating when I exert force on the back rest? Will check it out, thnx

    They came from the factory with the cables not well adjusted and few were ever fixed.

    Likely an exceptionally well running car.

    Every Ferrari I've driven with north of 50K miles seemed to pull like a freight train.

    The transmissions in the old iron syncro cars benefited from significant mileage. It is really noticeable in a dealer environment when you drive several of the same cars with different mileage in the same week.
