As a function of tenure Hulk must be the least successful driver on the grid. That he has a ride at all speaks volumes about the quality and depth of the driver pool.
So SkySports just analyzed the Russell and Max incident and the Leclerc and Max incident. So Max with Russell: Russell didn't have control of his car going into the corner and Russell had a snap of oversteer and hit Max thereby Max going off track. Both were axle-to-axle going into the turn. So Max with Leclerc: Max was generously moving left on the straight as well as Leclerc and Leclerc hit Max.
Yes, he was. Abject failure by RB. He should have ignored them, but considering the choice he made, he executed it perfectly - still the best driver.
IMO the T1 incident between Max and George was a racing incident too, these wacky passing rules strike again.
A couple of abject failures by RB-->1) Bringing him in under the SC and give him hard tires. Max should have stayed out. 2) Max was in the right by not wanting to give the position back to Russell as analyzed by SkySports. Agreed on ignoring the pit wall.
The press will be having fun with this but Max says the press never matter or gets to him! Verstappen's Russell hit was needless act of self-sabotage All he had to do was minimize the damage via the tire strategy. But no. He's 49 points off the WDC lead now. Self induced. The gap virtually doubled today.
This incident was analyzed by SkySports and Russell turned into Max. Max had no lockup going into the turn and both were also axle-to-axle.
Well the Dutch got a bit too much of the Barcelona sun and turned back into Mad Max. Was at least entertaining. Good job again by Piastri. The incredible Hulk lifts Sauber from their Malaise and the unlucky Alonso finally gets some luck and some points. Now only 12 behind his teammate.
Former F1 world champion Nico Rosberg on Sky Sports: "It looked like a very intentional retaliation. Wait for the opponent, go ramming into him, just like you felt the other guy rammed into you at Turn 1. "That's something which is extremely unacceptable and I think the rules would be a black flag yes. If you wait for your opponent to bang into him, that's a black flag."
Instead of harping on Max let’s celebrate the good call by Charles to preserve his tires for the race. A well deserved podium and second in the WCC. All in all a pretty entertaining race.
no podiums in almost 250 starts is pretty incredible. I don't understand how he sticks around....he must be really cheap or easy to get along with (or both?)
Max didn't go ramming into Russell. According to the SkySports play-by-play in T1, Russell got into dirty air and had a bit of oversteer and hit Max thereby Max going off track.
Davidson: Verstappen intentionally hit Russell Sky Sports F1's Anthony Davidson at the SkyPad: "I don't understand why Max slows down after Turn 4. Then, suddenly decides 'no I'm not going to let him through'. "It's almost he decides 'no, I'm not going to let him by at all' carries such excessive speed into the corner and he's not out of control when doing this and divebombs into the corner, hits the Mercedes hard. "George is immediately on the radio to say 'what on earth was that?' "I think it's intentional. And I don't like to see that
down to tires, hulk started way back in 15th means have more fresh tires with some decent pace and luck with safety car can make a difference
Max just putting the rules into question. Max was axle-to-axle with Russell going into T4. Max didn't overshoot the turn and there was no lock-up. Russell turned into Max at T4 according the SkySports play-by-play.
