I've seen a 400 in red, it didn't look good in a group or alone.

While Newman is trickling out the updates, the owner is probably already enjoying his new, very verde BB :)

That's an interesting way to paint metallic paint. Silver first, then color. How common is that?

since there is only water paint available what is not really good for good color rendering and does not cover very well. so always good to paint the underground in an other color. here silver. but some painter use different colors before the final color.

It's not water based paint and the silver base is part of the process as per the paint formula. Silver base plus 4 coats of green then several coats of clear from House of Colors.

It's very common, even tinting the primer can change the finished product.

here in germany we only may use water based paint. The EU has banned all solvent-based paints some time ago. and if a paint shop want to use today ( yes, this is still possible - all a joke those regulations :( ) a solvent-based paint they have to apply for a special permit. of course then they first have to pay a lot of money for this applying and may be they not get the permit. they need very good reason to get such a permit. for example restoring an old car in original condition.
so I thaught in the US and canada it is the same?

What I don't understand is the clear is solvent based regardless or it would wash off when the car got wet. So what are they really saving? We only use solvent based paint and clear.

We painted the body green then black over that which is how it's done originally.

The bumpers were not painted body bolor if they were getting boxer trim.

Upgraded Dinoplex with tone generator to reproduce the original sound (thanks to Sam) then I added replated modules that are now non-functional and my new decals.

Black is always applied after the body color. I've seen people do it the other way around and it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Boxer trim in the door jambs goes half way up the opening of the door striker area and rocker then up the door post.

Adjustments to hinges or headlights are done before paint or even primer.

Black detail on the clam is often wrong after a repaint. Half of the perimeter lip should be blacked out.
