I bought this 2001 360 6MT Spider from Dan @ NG Supercars. My 80 year old dad wanted a project car, and it seemed like a perfect fit for what we wanted so we worked something out (very easy and direct to deal with). Car doesn't run, has been standing for 7 ish years, but my dad is so excited to dissassemble and get everything working again. The adventure is starting here.

Car is a 2001 360 Spider, 10k miles, Factory 6MT and Euro Spec. I'll keep progress on this thread to bringing her back to life.

Is this the barn find one that was on their channel? If so, keep posting updates here! Excited to see how it turns out!

I am going to assume for this conversation its not known why it doesnt run. In this process I am sure it will get belts. It will probably, before it gets driven will need to reseal or replace roll over valves and possibly fuel pumps. Maybe a transmission heat exchanger. The reason I bring all that up is this. On a Spider its much easier to do all of that with the top out and having the top out of the way makes a Spider so much easier to work on I'd consider just getting it out of the way early on. Its not hard to remove. When the time comes it can be test driven without it.

I got a euro 6spd in 2021 that hadn’t been run in 10 years. Brian’s statements are right - take the top out it’s way easier.

My advice is to also flush the transaxle/transmission fluid. Mine was really gross, think it might have been original to the car

It's less of a father son project and more just father (bankrolled by son). There's lots of "while we're in there's" that will be done, and yes this is the 7 year barn find car on the channel. Good suggestion on removing the top (currently its not operating properly).

I think at this point, it’s safe to assume every single fluid needs to be flushed.

Quick status update of where we stand now and some recommendations needed!

    1. All fluids flushed and changed.

    2. New Belts installed, new tensioners and Hill Pulleys installed.
==> Had a panic moment when releasing the vice grips on the pulley the belts jumped (setlled on another tooth on the drive pulley). All sorted.

    3. The brake fluid has simply gelled up. Running about 3 quarts of fluid through system it seems cleaned up now. Will continue to inspect, but gel appeared just at the bleeders and at the top of the reservoir. Don't think its from something other than brake fluid in the system, just old old static fluid. Have others experienced this?

    4. Drained all the gas and flushed the fuel tanks, Received new fuel lines, new fuel pumps (cracked), cleaned and flow tested injectors, and inspected roll-over valves (which were oddly replaced in 2014).

    5. All new Coolant Lines.

    6. Various odds and ends (front hood strut, trim clips, etc.)

All is ready to fire up but I'm waiting on 2 final fuel lines to be delivered! The next area that needs attention is that the top supposedly doesn't work and the rear bumper needs paint (clearcoat cracking).

Does anyone have a paintshop recommendation in the Atlanta Area? Need both the bumper repainted, and a quite deep paint correction.
