You’d have to get the MSRP from each car not just the paint color, as you alluded to. It’s really the delta from what the OG customer paid that matters. From there you’d have to map out a multitude of factors to assess if one driving is depreciation or stability of price. The color alone is a correlative data point.

Nice work, I think you are on to something regarding color, but I think it’s a more involved interplay of the entire specs desirability vs the cost to achieve the desirability. There will be an inflection point.

Are you tracking median prices as well? There are a bunch of outlier prices at the high end that are probably dragging the average price up.

Zr1x has a good chance of making 296 used prices tank even harder. Why pay for a more expensive used Ferrari that’s much less powerful than a brand new corvette? Yes, there’s a million vettes, but power is power.

Same reasons a 458 is revered over the F8 etc.
    Power is just power.

I would purchase a ZR1-X. I would only do it in addition to owning a Ferrari. The Ferrari provides more than just speed.

For those only buying one car- A corvette can never replace the intangibles that a Ferrari delivers.

Note: The fastest corvettes have been faster than most Ferraris for decades while Ferraris stature and success increased.

    In other words- no correlation.

I doubt I will use the ZR1-X more than the 296 (if I get to purchase one).

There is very, very little overlap on a Venn diagram of Ferrari owners and Corvette owners. And that's not a knock against the Corvette, which is an unreal example of performance value for the money. They are just very different target markets.

  10. So I guess we should just all go buy a Tesla Model S Plaid, with a peak power of 1,020 hp

The ZR1 and X are very impressive but so was the Z06 - even more so at Cayman GT4 (used) prices. I'm happy that I went 296 and not Z06, or NSX or Artura Spider, which are also pretty interesting cars.

I hope that the ZR1/X won't tank 296 demand more than Z06 might already have, but I think more of that is and will continue to be lingering effects of a combination of hybrid prejudice, speculative (over) buying, over production, and not good UI inputs than Corvette products.

And in any case, even though I'd like to see more 296 demand out there, I've spent enough time trying out 80s and 90s cars in the last year to make me thrilled that we have so many great options now.

you go buy a convertible Zr1x that’s still lighter than a Tesla and more powerful/cheaper than a 296.

We need to also consider the fact that the car was a Canadian market car and some people won't touch a car that's not a US car. Because of this, I would say this sale is more comparable to the Canadian market than the US market.

If that MSRP is in Canadian dollars, that would convert to about $329K US. does anyone know for sure if it is in Loonies? If so, and the fact that many US buyers won't consider Canadian cars, that would make this sale not that bad relative to MSRP.

Not exactly the same customer but the zrX will most likely affect resale and demand of all sports cars 250k to 600k IMO

ZR1x just makes me want to keep my base 296 and not upgrade and swap my Z06 for the ZR1X. The Speciale performance is irrelevant now against that monster. But the refined, almost gentlemanly quality of the base 296 will be more appealing now in the collection.

Now that 100K depreciation is going to be the norm on entry level rear mid engine Ferrari then a good chunk of old time customers will give up on constantly trading for the newer versions.
Buying older naturally aspirated sports cars and building a collection looks very tempting in lieu of this constant battle of getting allocation and waiting 3 years for a car for it to drop 100k as soon as you drive off

I have one with the track pack its actually a really good car! Fast, space, air ride, tech that works. The depreciation on that car is ridiculous.

does this suggest that the MY2026 will come with the physical push button steering wheel of the 296 Speciale? That’s pretty cool.

If you are right, you just described the end of the business model for Ferrari.
