Just too delivery of my 296. Order book closed a long time ago.

It’s haptic but much closer to a traditional button. Works great!

From what Ive heard it will be buttons not haptics…for cars produced around August…probably 2026 models….and there will be an option for owners of older 296s to switch to the new non haptic steering wheel …Im sure for a significant fee…

Presumably the 296 Speciale wheel which is different to this one (physical buttons, like f80).

I have a MY 2026 GTS coming later this year, haven’t heard about the physical button wheel for the regular 296 but I am hoping!

tbh I haven’t actually had any real issue with the haptic wheels, got used to it within a few days. Now I hardly adjust anything using the wheel anyways. I think they did a software then mild hardware update from MY 2024 or 5 which may have helped.

I asked the dealership about this and they hadn't heard about this being offered. Do you have any additional info on this?

Did they say if this was something FNA was offering as a free or paid upgrade (or recall)? And Can I ask which dealership?

I have an android phone so CarPlay doesn’t help. If I was able to use android auto, I assume the haptics wouldn’t impact my daily driving.

Does anyone know of a way to utilize android auto if the car isn’t set up for it? I’ve searched the forum but haven’t seen a tried and true winner.

It would be an upgrade to your 296…and he felt that it would have to be paid for by the owner….

I talked to the owner of my dealership yesterday and today and he confirmed it is a new steering wheel for MY 2026, he also confirmed I need an additional deposit this week and that my car will be an early 2026 delivery!

How does the new wheel handle e-manettino settings? Anyone know? Amalfi doesn’t have those settings…

i assume the non hybrids like puro, 12C will get the amalafi wheel with the physical red starter button, while 296 and SF90 will get the one from the 296 Speciale with the emanettino and capacitive starter (just like the F80 too)...

i hope ferrari continue preproduction development on the 296 Speciale wheel and introduce a physical red starter button, lets see!

I always liked the physical start button and it was a favourite feature in the 430, but it is no big deal really. You only use it when you start the car and when you turn it off. All the other physical buttons are much more important, while driving.

I think production F80s will end up with a metal button starter - there was a steering wheel shown off at the media drives set up like this. Good bet that this wheel setup will end up on 296 VS production cars, F173M (SF90 replacement this fall), and future production hybrids.

More "screen space" on the bottom (between start/stop and manettino) for those now...???
