So I drove my F430 this morning, everything was normal. Parked it in the garage, and walked away for maybe an hour. Got back in the car to take it for another drive, car starts up, but it’s stuck in neutral. Pulling paddles doesn’t do anything, stays in neutral. Reverse doesn’t work either.

    Got these codes from reader:

    P1602 - PERMANENT POWER SUPPLY

The direct supply from the battery has reached the minimum value for the ECU operation

    and

    P1611 - PERMANENT POWER SUPPLY

The supply voltage is below the minimum permitted level.

    VALUE TOO LOW

So I’m hoping this is just a case of bad battery? But wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this or found a different solution.

Hmm .. could be the battery is weak .. maybe give it a little test - measure voltage at battery terms while cranking and just sitting
I am wondering if you have a no pressure in system for the f1 - do you hear pump running ?
Next step if battery is good and you hear pump come on normally ..would be shut battery off from front trunk, wait 20 mins or so and reconnect - the try it .. always remember to do a throttle body relearn ( just idling after warm up for 10 mins without any electrical drain)

My guess: battery. New one and problem solved. I think there is a "factory threshold" of voltage: under this, electronic still works but starts acting "strange"

Pump sounds fine. I have the scuding Swiss relay too to hopefully prevent it dying out.

I am going to start with battery replacement, just picked one up…

The F1 pump primes and doesn’t run long. I also have the scuding Swiss relay to prevent it from burning out. But yeah, everything was great this morning on my first drive.

I’ll post again if the new battery doesn’t solve the issue… It’s amazing, with all the dumb error codes, you’d think “your battery is ****” would be one of them.

Well that didn’t work. I disconnect frunk battery connection. I added a new battery, reconnected battery in frunk, turned on power, let it set until I got the okay. Then I let the car idle for a good 10 min. Still, nothing. The car sounds fine, the F1 pump primes normally, but the car will not go into any gears.

    Any other ideas?

Yup. Brake lights good, engine lid, trunk lid… all good.

Got the answer… and don’t worry, it’s stupid.

Thanks to @flash32 for his help.
He gave me a call and we troubleshooted everything related to the F1, and that’s how I realized it’s gotta be something simple because every number related to the F1 system in the diagnostics was looking healthy.

So a long way back when the car was new to me and I didn’t feel comfortable working on it yet, I had an independent place tackle a few big jobs. One of which was valve cover gaskets, which on a spider, requires quite the bit of disassembly.

Turns out, the hose that connects to the clutch was just a tiny bit disconnected (it wasn’t snapped on). It’s probably been that way this whole time but something about today’s last drive knocked it just enough loose to finally cause this failure.

I stuck it back on, and all is better.

    So dumb…

    here’s the culprit:

Thanks Neal ... but honestly, I just gave Carsten some info and he figured out
Sometimes just talking about stuff makes the light bulb go on
That is why I normally take the conversion offline and then either myself or the OP report back the findings
Although this is not the first time... I had a person where the hose was "on" but not really connected
The key is to look at clutch plate travel and see if clutch is actually moving and if moving the correct amount - that is a key data point

You really have to push hard on those fittings in order to connect them securely. I can definitely see how this could happen!

You just saved me a tow! I removed my engine covers and must have flicked the collar enough to disconnect this little bastard. Thank you!

awesome to hear. It’s amazing how easy it is to accidentally disconnect that line… sketchy, really. I thought about 3D printing a coupler in carbon fiber that can snap around it just in case. Ha.
