The 328 I am purchasing is report to have Cuoio Tan interior. The driver’s side bolster shows some wear. I want to re dye the seats. What is the color code for Cuoio Tan and what is the best supplier for the dye? I have read that some products are wipe on. This seems better than spray considering the possibility of overspray. Please advise.

"Cuoio Tan" does not exist for the 328, nor does "Tan", which is the common name used in the US for the Ferrari color offically named "Beige" in the factory litterature.
Two different references of "Beige" were used along the 328 production, depending on the car production number: cars before serial #79660 have "Beige" VM3218, cars after #79660 have "Beige" VM4208.
There is a difference in the leather itself, as a slight difference in color also, although variations from car to car are more important. The best solution is to have the dye matched to the leather, usually taking a 1 inch by 1 inch sample from the excess hide curved under the seat, provided that the seats themselves aren't discolored by sun exposure.

Send a leather sample to leatherique. They will match it 100%

Kent anderson of Leatherique matched my 328 Beige from the seat side cover I sent him and i noticed applied it has more of a golden tone than the seat faces now. Looks super great and fresh. Removing the door pockets, center console metal kick plate and leather side pocket these have the original color under them and ALSO as golden style. So the dye was very original

The Beige of Ferrari does fade to reddish after 38 years

Leatherique is probably the best, although the match takes time. I've also used Clyde's leather balm for light touch up on worn bolsters.

Image Unavailable, Please Login I would only use Leatherique As a temporary solution. I spent over two months, prepping the seats in my QV with all their products, we owned a body shop for many many years so I was well-versed in paint systems/products. Third time getting in the car, absolutely destroyed the finish on the bolster of the seat. I read up on their products to the point I could’ve been their sales rep. I believe your just as well off walking into an automotive paint store with a sample and having them mix you an aerosol can for $30. I’m certain it will last longer than Letherique. easily spent $700
Absolute waste of time, money and energy..

Success depends on preparation and the paint prep is the most used imho

I dyed my seats with Leatherique over 20 years ago and they still look perfect today after over 25K miles of driving. The process is all in the prep and I can't imagine what happened to Kim. My experience has been exceptional.

I disassembled both seats and center console, then removed all the old finish , including numerous touchups from previous owners over the years. Sanded all the scars, marks in the leather out of the covers. Applied leather rejuvenator time and again, letting the pieces sit out in the hot 80° sun between coats to make the leather soft and supple. That process in itself took four weeks. Bought a special airbrush, Needle and fluid tip to atomize the dye. Applied two light coats and obtained coverage. Seats looked terrific when finished, but just putting your fingers on Them would leave dirty prints. Incredibly hard to simply keep clean. After a month of cure time, I decided to coat the seats with a carnauba wax to mitigate cleaning as suggested by The gentleman from Leatherique . Still had to be incredibly careful getting into the car so after another month decided to buy a set of seat covers to place over them with a soft wool padding, so not to scuff the seat itself. Climbed in it three times that week and then had to adjust the seat cover. When I took it off, my action getting in and out of the car totally destroyed the finish on the lower cushion and bolster. This was just my experience with Leatherique. I don’t believe in taking shortcuts and I hate doing things twice. Image Unavailable, Please Login If this product works for you, that’s terrific.

I can't remember seeing Beige with red carpets before (as in the OP photo above).
Plenty of Crema with red carpets but never Beige.
Was this a factory available combination ?

Yes Mark: you could match any of the "seven or so" available leather color with any of the "seven or so" available carpet color.
    Crema leather with red carpets was/is fairly common for UK cars;
Black leather with red carpets was/is fairly common in France and Italy.
Biege leather with red carpets is unusual, but not ultra-rare.From time to time, you can also find red leather and red carpets...

When working with Leatherique I spilled some leatherique dye on old work shoes and pants.
Clothes for shop works so not a problem and years later with many many washes it is not out. Still holds strong
