Used to drive on Michelin Pilot Sport 4 but these are not available. The searched threads on tyre seem out dated ... It is street (sporty) use only, no race, no winter drive, (in the rain accidently only). Are there experiences on Michelin Pilot Super Sport or Bridgestone Potenza which seem to be available? Any other ideas? Many Thanks in advance
The Michelin PS4S is still readily available here, and is a great tire. The Pilot Super Sport is very similar but the PS4S is slightly better in all aspects. I have been very happy with the Yokohama Advan AD09 on my F355. It's a slightly "edgier" tire than the Michelin (just a little more road noise and harshness over bumps, but it's not a huge difference) but still seems fine for street driving. It seems to have better turn-in and steering feel, and when you get them really hot there is another level of grip that comes in.
355 guys are way better off than 348 boys. In the US there is literally nothing left for us that’s not All Season. Not one option.
Tire Selection for any car a) Go to Tire Rack b) go to the Tire Ratings and Reviews c) Start at the top; Extreme Performance and work down to High Performance From the top of each category 1) click on one of the top 5 tires 2) click on sizes 3) see if there is a fitment for your car (275/40 can replace 265/40 with a ride height adjustment at the rear) 4) repeat until you find a tire The tire-decoder-ring says:: xxx/yy/ZR18 xxx is section width yy is aspect ratio 18 is the wheel rim diameter Rolling diameter = 18 + (xxx*2*0.yy)/25.4 You are looking for rolling diameters with 0.2" of stock AND you are looking for section widths where front.old.xxx/front.new.xxx rather=to rear.old.xxx/rear.new.xxx And that is all there is to it. If you choose to disobey the section width matching, raising or lowering the rear can balance out any understeer or oversteer this causes. Sometimes tire pressures can be used to balance out understeer/oversteer, too, when it is close.
Thanks to everybody. After having some talks to 2 garages who are specialized in 355s here in Germany I got 2 following feedback on street tyres: Garage 1: Pirelli PZ (good, but expensive and not all clients are satisfied) Bridgestone (affordable and loads of clients use them) Garage 2: Pirelli PZ (very good, but turning hard after 5 years and loosing performance) Michelin PSS and PS4S (very good allrounders, very predictable, they last 8-10 years) Bridgestone (not recommended on the 355 / not as good as the above) Tire pressure was recommended in difference to the manual (due to engine and radiator heat in the back): front 2.1-2.3 cold rear 1.8 -1.9 bar cold Have decided for Michelin Pilot Super Sport.
Tires suitable for a vehicle that can top 180 MPH should not last much longer than 10,000 miles (16,000Km) And no tire should be used after 6 years even on an econobox that tops out at 80 MPH.
