    Is this overkill for us in Australia? I have a shed I have built which is insulated but we can still experience -1 temperatures over night or days that are 40 degrees plus. I have thought about putting a split system air con unit in the shed to assist.

    High temperatures and humidity are what you want to control. An a/c system will do both. Humidity above 60% will lead to mould growth, but too low and your leather and rubbers will dry out. Next, you'll need a TV, then a bar, and possibly a pinball machine.
