Or perhaps maybe journalists should learn how to ask relevant questions. He's been asked about his penalties post Spain, he's been asked about the penalties on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and no doubt will he be asked about them today as well. They already had their answer quite a while ago, yet the mouthbreathers keep asking the same dumbass question.

100% It looks like the media see their role as provoking the drivers all the time to get reactions.

Reactions which have to be measured to pass the FIA censorship.

How long does he have left. I see him gone by summer unless he turns this effort around fully.

Tsunoda had new spec but no points (again)
Yuki Tsunoda has three point-less races in a row for Red Bull despite being back up to date with his car specification.

Tsunoda's been missing a new floor compared to team-mate Verstappen ever since his big crash in qualifying at Imola, so carried older components through that race, plus the Monaco and Spain weekends.

Red Bull managed to bring new parts to Montreal that were on Tsunoda's car by final practice, and he showed a more encouraging turn of speed - but he still wasn't particularly quick, and he ruined his own weekend anyway.

Tsunoda narrowly missed out on a Q3 appearance, which would have been his first since Miami in early May, but was almost half a second slower than Verstappen in the process.

And he had to start last anyway because of a 10-place grid penalty picked up for overtaking Piastri during a red flag in practice.

Tsunoda was very unhappy with what he called a "ridiculous" penalty, but it was his own fault, and a needless complication.

More disappointing, though, was a pretty limp race from the back and watching the likes of Esteban Ocon and Carlos Sainz grab points on the same strategy as him because he just wasn't quick enough to pass them. The Race.com.

If and when Max Verstappen leaves, that team will be one of the worst in F1. It might be one of the most fascinating scenarios when it comes to car vs driver.

Everybody knows that F1 success is heavily dependent on the car. We've seen average drivers win championships in great cars. We've seen great drivers have terrible seasons because of the car. Red Bull have designed their car towards Max's preference, which is more and more front end. By doing this, the car got faster and Max had the most dominant stretch in F1 history. During this time, the second driver at Red Bull has struggled. It's been this case since 2020, no teammate gets remotely close to Verstappen. Good drivers too. Gasly has done some amazing this at times. Albon has more than proved himself to be a very very quick driver. Yuki was killing Hadjar before getting the suicide task of driving along Max.

Coming back to current day. With Max at the wheel the Red Bull is maybe the 3rd best car that he some how gets poles and victories in at times. At the same time his teammates show it's one of the worst cars, maybe 8th best out of the 10 teams. That's unbelievable. Pretty any other team you can tell how both drivers performance where their car roughly ranks weekend to weekend. With the Red Bull it's almost impossible to judge because Max is up near the front, and his teammate is down near the bottom.

My theory is that Red Bull has focused so much on giving Max more and more front end that they didn't develop fundamental overall downforce on the car, which is primarily from the floor. This may partially explain why in 2022 and 2023 Red Bull were so strong in top speed and didn't suffer from porpoising like everyone else. Now in 2025 the car just doesn't have the downforce from the floor compared to the other top teams. They can throw on a load of rear wing for the 2nd driver to balance the car to their liking. But it costs so much drag that they would be a sitting duck on the straights which they simply can't afford. They can only trim down the front wing so much because it only reduces the overall downforce and it makes the car slower. The only way to get speed out of that car is to drive it on the nose with a very unstable rear end. Unfortunately only Max can do it well enough to be competitive.

exit clause can be activated as of tomorrow.

My guess? Mercedes. I really hope so actually.

Red Bull without max was lapped TWICE today (ok not purely on pace, but at least 1x on pure pace).

It will be very interested to see what Max does.

There is no question in my mind the reason why George doesn't have a contract is because Mercedes is waiting on Max's exit clause. Crappy deal with George as he's driving better than ever. I don't blame Toto or any team boss for going after Max. Every single one of them knows Max is the best of the best. Even Zak Brown was in talks with him.

Max has stated his loyalty for Red Bull for some time, but will he actually stay loyal? He has to be like any other driver that simply wants to be in the best car to win races.

If he does sign with Mercedes or another team, that kind of throws away his window to leave F1 and do other racing. I truly think he has more of a desire to race other cars and other series than F1. It's pretty obvious the clown circus that is F1 is annoying to him with all the stupid media. Especially since they've painted him as a horrible person and a villain. Imagine being arguably the greatest driver in F1 history and being treated like a red headed step child. F1 needs the deserving kick in the crotch to realize how they wasted not capitalizing on his greatness.

Why does Horner still have a job LOL???? New driver and maybe new leadership. The 'Horner' era should end. Like all things in life................

And missing from the points was Red Bull itself.

Yuki Tsunoda, after a 10s penalty for dodgem driving which didn't actually make much difference, finished twice lapped and last in 16th - and that's only because we lost both Williamses (which would probably have finished ahead of him) with reliability problems.

This just shows how much work the others have to do, but even more it shows how much Red Bull is a one-car team. Lose Max Verstappen - as it did with accident damage on the first lap - and it's basically game over.

It's not just a matter of replacing Tsunoda with Liam Lawson (again) or Isack Hadjar, or in fact anyone else. The car just doesn't suit what are basically decent drivers.

It also opens up the big question: what would Verstappen do in another car?

Really lol?? You annoyed Newey out of your team along with other very KEY people. Talk less and work on fixing your broken team.

    Presumably we find out soon.

Even if not in F1, he's stupendously quick in GT3 and pretty much anything he's driven.

Do you think MercedesAMGF1 would make a front loaded car for Max and sacrifice Russell in the process?

Max has an exit clause IF he's lower than 3rd in the WDC standings by the end of July. Russell is 9pts away and is 4th currently in the WDC standings.

Engineers don't really do it like that. They design a car first and go from there.

If Max goes to Mercedes it'll be to pair with Kimi, who is Merc's long term prospect. No better driver to learn alongside than Max, plus max and Kimi are friends which helps.

So he can't do it again? Even with a car built for him? Why leave after he doesn't win the title? Put more time in with a team who help him win. Then after a few years leave. Yall sound desperate for him still

Max wants to win- I think that is his sole motivation and he will go or stay depending on where he (and Jos) thinks he can win. EVERY TEAM on he grid would want to have Max. He is a generational talent. Of course Mercedes want to sign him. So do Aston Martin. Do you think Mclaren would turn him down? Norris be damned. I think Chris' evaluation is spot on. And Ferrari cannot be considered out of the mix. Just imagine Max at LeMans with the scuderia!

I will stick my neck out here, but I would not be surprised if Max Verstappen NEVER win another championship.
Not because he is declining, but because he may (I insist on MAY) never find the same circumstances that allowed him to win his 4 titles. There is some similarity with the case of Vettel here.
Both won 4 titles in succession under very favorable conditions; both were very talented and the stars aligned.
Vettel didn't adapt to the hybrid cars and was put in the shade by Ricciardo when they were introduced.
His moves to Ferrari and then Aston weren't successful. The cars had changed and didn't suit him anymore, IMO.
I rate Max above Vettel, but Red Bull doesn't provide him with a dominating car like in the past. Max is struggling and the atmosphere in the team has changed. Max is their best asset with Newey gone.
It looks like frustration is taking its toll on Max; he may move to another team, switch to another series, or just retire.
Also, the spat with the dictatorial MBS who wants to micromanage every aspect of F1 is becoming to p*** off Max in a big way, and he is a rebel at heart, I think.
