I would be surprised to see a return of the retractable hardtop, especially if this is an updated Roma / Roma Spider platform. Whatever forces drove them to switch back to the soft top on the Roma are likely still in play.

 

This has to be a first for this forum; discussing our evening attire.

For what it’s worth, I will be arriving in my Cane di Fucile Roma coupe, wearing a Prada linen jacket over a crisp Sunspel Riviera polo with a pair of BR Travelers and donning a pair of Valencia wholecuts

 

I rather like that. In a time when we’re drowning in content that there is still an aire of mystery about a car launch. Personally, it fills me with great excitement that I have no clue what to expect from this design. And also a bit of a trepidation.

I only wish they would live stream the event for those who can’t be here; but of course, Ferrari being Ferrari…they probably won’t.

 

It is strange that Spider Is barely a year old and now it will have a completely different design/name.

 

Almost as if... it was not selling.

Part of this is that their lead times for launch to orders to delivering cars is absurd. People are finally getting cars ordered 3+ years ago at the last unveiling when the replacement car is already being shown. Oh and you'll get wrecked on trade or resale. Why should I order another?

 

I don’t think it’s due to the car not selling. Surely they had a new model in development long before sales even started. I’m actually surprised that Ferrari‘s business eccentricities are still going considering they’re such a big public company now; but it’s definitely a unique way of doing things.

 

Anyone get a physical copy of the itinerary/schedule instead of just the digital one? And is anyone here signed up for the drive tour?

It’s strange when you think about it; does Ferrari “need” social media? Does any luxury marque?

 

It’s a good question. They don’t need it, but if they want to maximize their profits, then they do.

 

In a generations time the core Ferrari buyer will be a Millennial or Gen Z, you have to capture the heart and minds now or another brand will.

 

A part of me reasons that it does absolutely nothing for them. Just as Porsche/Ferrari don’t have TV commercials, do they really need trendy social media ads? Probably not. Their sales would likely be exactly the same without the Internet. I would be interested in having a look at their stats, though.

Why tf are you here if you're going to the event? Everyone knows that leaks happens almost all the time. And unfortunately, it seems to be the real deal.

Looks like a fake but we will find out soon

 

I’m not gonna take a side on whether the image is real or fake, but I’m gonna guess it’s real. Given that the Roma was supposed to be more of a GT tourer with different design language than the sports series, this actually follows their current design language, and, not surprising but in a way elegantly done.
