I am negotiating the purchase of a 2012 FF with 20K miles. Based on all of the FChat posts on the problematic PTUs, I am wondering who has put the most miles on their FF before servicing/replacing their PTUs.

miles are less relevant - its more due to time, lack of ptu fluid change - just plan on it happening if you keep the car.

fwiw mine went at 40k miles, after 11 or 12 years...i was replacing the ptu fluid every 5 or 6 years. now ill do it every 3

Yeah I think there is one in the ptu itself and one for the actuating mechanism. It’s been a while since I looked at the wsm tho

It's a "when" not "if" type scenario with the PTU, I reckon.

In my opinion it's the DCT sensors that are the bigger problem and just as costly. Also, there's no way of knowing until it's too late. Awful design by Getrag and Ferrari.

I’m at 30k miles and no issues. I am going to change the ptu fluid in the next few weeks, curious what we will find in there. Hopefully nothing out of the ordinary

My FF had 15k miles PTU problem free. My Lusso had PTU changed at about the same mileage. I think it is random

40k no issues so now I'm pretty terrified haha

But I did have speed sensors go in 2023 and that was an annoying use of 10k
