Hi All, I just replaced the trunk release lever on 246GT and I thought some of you might like to see the process if yours needs replacing. https://tomyang.net/?p=25026 I managed to do it without removing the fuel tank because the cables were fine in this car, but I believe the tank has to come out if the cables have to be replaced. Let me know if someone else found a better way! Thanks. Also, since we're on the topic of cables, I also replaced the clutch cable on this car, and the prices on Dino Clutch cables have doubled to $1400 bucks in the last few years! Yay! Tom
The tubes start somewhere behind the panel and extend onto the various latches, but the lever assembly and cables are loose behind the panel. If new cables are needed, I would imagine the fuel tank would have to come out. Tom
My experience, as the whole car was rotten, we had to replace the tubes that carry the cables, as they were rusted through also. Maybe overkill, but we used SS tubes. No issues with the tank(s) as they were out, never thought about that You can always run 80lb fishing line to 'fish' new cables. Regards, Alberto
