Not that they need to, but a Taycan equivalent, or perhaps even a luxe ICE would be very interesting.

Why not? They've already sold their souls with a 4-door.

My guess: Probably not, because the market for sedans is in decline.

Looking to Porsche, the new Panamera is an outstanding car (had one as a service loaner), but the Cayenne stomps it in sales (US sales figures for 2024 and 2023). Trends are down and up, respectively.

I don't see the sedan being a tempting configuration for Ferrari. Even when Ferrari delivered more elegant/conservatively-designed cars, the big 2+2 was the 365 GTC, which was a (long) coupe.

PORSCHE MODEL US Sales 2024 2023
    ALL 911 14,128 11,692
    ALL 718 5,698 4,526
    ALL TAYCAN 4,747 7,570
    ALL PANAMERA 3,982 4.205
    ALL CAYENNE 22,432 20,475

    ALL MACAN 25,180 26,947
    TOTAL 76,167 75,415

Looking to Aston Martin, the DBX replaced the Rapide a few years ago, and reportedly now makes up over half of the marque's sales.

Mercedes tried the Maybach, but eventually folded it into the S-Class as a premium variant.

    So the signs aren't encouraging...

They built one called the Pinn. just once as a styling example. Enzo liked it, FIAT said no.

Was just looking at first quarter Porsche sales. Glad Panamera took a leap up.
Ferrari operates differently than what the market demands, though. They’re an outlier pretty much in a position where they could build anything and it would sell out immediately. It looks like their forthcoming electric will also be four doors, so they may choose to make that there luxe vehicle.

Why not? Ferrari’s done it twice—three times, depending on who you ask—and came out just fine. The 456 Venice and the Pinin aren’t exactly pariahs in the classic market, despite the usual noise from the 'purist*' heckle bench. And the QP5? Still widely considered one of the best enthusiast sedans ever built.

Im with Jon. Theres not enough profit in it. They will have the Puro and then whatever this new smaller version of the Puro is called.

    That covers the sedan market.

Of course thats not 'ever' thats right now. If sedans become popular again then maybe they will. But right now they wont.

The badge counts for a lot. My frame of reference was always that exotic cars had two seats, but I’m not the market for a potential Ferrari sedan. Frankly, as an EV sedan the Taycan is extremely impressive, but also sort of the canary in the coal mine for premium EVs

I thought the Rapide was a handsome car, but it depreciated hard and fast. Warning sign…

I think in Forza there was a great write up about the guy that bought the Pinn and made it run. I've not seen it in person but would love to. From what I understand there are a few limitations on turning circle etc.. but overall works well.

I love the Rapide! My son loved the back of it too! Hope they continue to depreciate, would love to get one for a steal. Very interesting car

Rapide was the best looking sedan on the planet back when.

What’s crazy for me to just realize is I own about 9 vehicles currently and not one is a sedan. And I haven’t had one since the failed and quick Tesla Model 3 experiment.

I am mildly interested in the Puro though and that thing is really a little Mazda sedan sized hauler.

I have. Externally an interesting design exercise even though the design does not allow for roll down windows.
Engineering wise it was a disaster. Kind of like it was designed by teenagers who had never designed a car before.
Has BB engine and it sits very high and very far forward. Not a recipe for good handling. Think late FWD Eldorado.

I know it has some pretty awful compromises ... but it was built as a non running show car... but for a mid 80's design it looks good.

Sedans are on the way out in general. Its all trucks today.

The best selling import in the USA now is the Rav 4 and its Lexus counterpart. Yep -- beating the Camry.
