I am looking for a MAF sensor for a 355 5.2 (only one per car). It's NLA from factory. Anyone knows a good quality alternative that can be bought from somewhere else like Bosch, or BMW?

Thanks Vas but that is a 2.7 version, 1995 only. I need a ECU 5.2 MAF, that is very different from that one.

    Try Bosch 0 280 217 800

There are also Bremi and Delphi versions that come up under the same part number for much less $$$ but I don't know if there are critical differences.

They do seem to be drying up everywhere... I have a new one in my stash I can sell you if you strike out elsewhere.

Bosch 0280 218 409 looks very similar, but with a different connector.

This is the info I gathered on the F355 5.2 MAF:

    F355 B/GTS/Spider (10.95--> F129C/40) (p/n 162397) Bosch No. 0 280 217 800
    BMW: E32, E34, E38, E39 with M60/M62 4.0-liter V8 Engine, BMW p/n 13 62 1 702 078 (Bosch No. 0 280 217 800)

    MAGNETI MARELLI 213719655019 (quality?)
    VEMO V20-72-5147 (quality?)
    BREMI 30190 (quality?)
    MEAT & DORIA 86429 (quality?)

The MAF BMW 13 62 1 702 078 seems to be available at some 500-700 USD. Perhaps you can also try to find the replacement element only (I don't know its number):

I would avoid any Chinese knock-offs.

I agree, I have never seen a maf knockoff work correctly.

It is because the MAF output signal (to the ECU), for a given mass of air flowing through, has to be very accurate/consistent. Bosch MAF for the 348 provides this signal with accuracy of +/- 0.03 volt in average over the MAF's operating range. Not easy to "knockoff" (and this is why Bosch MAF is not cheap). These are the specified outputs of the 348 Bosch MAF for a few flow points:

    30 kg/h ....... 2.6240 to 2.6572 volt
    60 kg/h ....... 2.9800 to 3.0214 volt
    120 kg/h ..... 3.4208 to 3.4820 volt

On some knockoffs, I have measured signals that were 0.6 volt higher than the spec (totally out).
