Are these bites? Kauai Hawaii trip and never saw a mosquito but thats what we were told. Also note all the small red dots. Large red lesions were itchy but no longer.
    Anybody have any insight?

I'm a radiologist but looks like a petechial rash. Is it only only one leg or both? Any chance you got Rocky mountain spotted fever? Maybe caused by viral infection too, any other symptoms ie fever, fatigue, swollen glands etc....

other things can also be medication related or even blood disorders.

Paging @Scotty I think he's our forum Dermatologist?

The radiologist nailed it. It is a petechial eruption suggestive of a lymphocytic vasculitis. Almost never serious, and almost always reactive (usually post-viral, but could be post insect bite, post weird food, etc).

The important questions are: 1) how are you doing otherwise (*as @Xrayv8 asked about fever, fatigue, etc), 2) is the rash spreading (importantly much above your knees), and 3) is the rash anywhere else on your body.

And mosquitoes are on all of the Hawaiian islands. Random fact--the native bird populations were decimated by avian malaria--the mosquitoes don't go above ~3000 feet in elevation, so the islands high places still have populations of some of the native birds (some are extinct).

    thank you for the replies
    1- no fever, fatique
2- rash is not speading. goes 3” above knee on both legs.
3- the large red lesions were very itchy but no longer.
4- large red lesions are on both arms but no presence of petechia
5- lesions start out as raised skin colored lesions then they turn red.
6- my wife also has the large red lesions but no petechia

They don't look like bed bug bites. There are typical 3 bites in a row (roughly)--the joke in Dermatology residency was "breakfast, lunch, and dinner". But it is possible.
