NO ONE needs a $4M hypercar that doesn't look absolutely stunning while driving it to the Country Club Saturday morning -- unless you just love saying you spent $4M on a car.
I watched many of the reviews. Like many people, I look to Chris Harris, he always makes great points and I'm used to his point of view so I know how to interpret what he says. And I think Harris has delivered another great review- it's fair, accurate, but also passionate about driving such a machine. Vintage Harris. The entire team at Ferrari really did it! In the end, I think the supercar has to answer the question: what does it mean to be "Ferrari" for the next era. Typically, a decade or so . Watching the videos, it's clear they are saying- it's no longer about just power, nor is it about being weighed down by any conventions- it's about the intelligent use of power- or just being plain smart about going about what it does. And it seems to me the F80 really does it. Even in the styling. I think it looks great in motion. Forza Ferrari!!
Car definitely has grown on me looks wise. But, I just would never look at one against a LAF and I’d even definitely take a 296 Speciale over it from an aesthetic standpoint. The performance is close enough to not matter. But it’s certainly special. McLaren is going to face same issue with W1. It’s irrelevant vs a 765 (which remains the ultimate super car bargain). Under 6 seconds to 200 km/h just doesn’t matter for the road. I maintain 7.0 to 200 km/h is absolutely enough to always be scary but you can just about enjoy it long enough for the road . Which is perhaps not coincidental what P1/918/765/LAF/Revuelto/296 Speciale and many other amazing and incredible to drive cars do it in.
Now I am rest assured. Hope to have the car as soon as possible and drive it whenever possible. Won’t worry about service for severe track use and sideways. Only live once and I will not leave anything behind
I think his information is out of date. All dealers have clients waiting for a slot to open and nothing is available. Keep in mind that many top clients also declined the SP1/2 when it was launched. Most ended up buying it second hand at a massive premium later (also to qualify for the SP3). After yesterday’s videos, I think the chance of slot becoming available is zero!
Harris was just not convincing to me. Compare to his prior flagship reviews. Seemed he forced the emotion here. Really, the car should have had a new V12 and a better interior. Exterior design is polarizing. Wouldn't through it out of bed but imagine what could have been.
Yesterday watched most of the videos. F80 is by me best Ferrari but also best car of all time. And sound of engine is not bad. Also my "biggest" problem was front black stripe. In videos it is much less disturbing. All other things which thought abut F80, videos just confirmed. Overall this car is crazy on track, and on road it looking like racing special. Car like this know create only Ferrari. Really super job with F80. And as said few times, congratulations to everyone lucky person which get this beast. Cant wait when see F80 live, and also when arrive at least my 1/18 version
"The feedback from Harris is irrelevant". Right. Someone who drove AMG One, Valkyrie, LaF, and everything else. While yours is extremely informed. Haters will be hating.
Jerry, I like Chris Harris, and I've also watched many of his reviews, and I agree with you that he always makes great points. However, comparing this F80 review with others he made, there are aspects in which to me Chris Harris didn't seem as convincing as I would have hoped. Unlike before, his concern with not being disrespectful to Ferrari and its Halo Car was noticeable. What we do know, and this is documented in Chris Harris's podcast 8 with his friends, is that eight months ago he wasn't convinced there was enough headroom for this product (the F80) within the sports car industry and also considered the 200 cv the F80 has over the bread-and-butter SF90 to be useless extra performance. In that podcast, Chris's technical assessments also focused on the F80's AWD, stating that he thought he'd never driven one of these cars with front-axle electric power that it was that good. He also emphasized that he thought the rear axle package of the LaFerrari and P1 was just brilliant fun, and the front axle really worried him. CH also mentioned the tests an utter Halo car has to pass to be fully realized. First, when one looks at it and thinks, "Wow, yeah, wow, I want this thing! I just love this!" Secondly the car can't be undermined by a product already in the brand's lineup that diminishes the impact of the Halo. He then compared the F80 to the Daytona SP3 and couldn't have been clearer: "That car looks absolutely brilliant, and if you offered me that or an F80, I wouldn't even look at the F80. I wouldn't even look at it…" Regardless of the contradictions that we all have and that are part of life, during the F80 test at Misano, we heard Chris Harris say "wow, yeah, wow" several times, but we never heard him say "I want this thing."
Honesty of all the 6 halo Ferrari's the only one I would describe has pretty is the 288. These cars are handsome and purposeful. Pretty Ferrari's are the mid engine V8 lineage cars
Aesthetics matter. Sound matters. F80 falls short in these key areas. None of these videos change that fact. I'd much rather have a 275 GTB for basically the same money.
Or the most relevant question in my opinion: do we have more pleasure with 1200 hp on an open road with a silent and electrified V6 or with a fully usable F50 and a V12 from F1 for practically the same price? Personally, I would go back with the F50 without hesitating for a second.
Could anyone who's watched Ben Collins' video enlighten me on how he deems the F80 the "World's fastest car" as per his video title? It's quite an objective measurement, and I have no doubt that it's a fast car, but I can't recall it being reported as the quickest 0-100, top speed, or lap times other than Fiorano. Genuinely curious but sadly don't have time to sit through a 28 minutes video right now
Let's not be naive, Harris understood very well the lesson given at that time by Ferrari and his banishment; and I think that the only real criticism he can have is off the record and not in front of the cameras.
I think you have to look at those comments as Chris Harris trying to understand how the modern Ferrari lineup fits together. 15 to 20 years ago, the lineup was more focused. So if you liked one, you’d probably like them all. And the opposite was also true. Now there is a greater chance if you don’t like one, you might still like another one. It’s also worth mentioning that Harris, fortunately, like all of us, is getting older. And with the benefit of time, we probably can catch him out with some inconsistencies. Thank goodness none of us has turned into digitized versions of ourselves or robots. I don’t want us to play the “gotcha” game thats so common now. I really look to him for the human element of these cars. So I don’t think Harris’ comments are really in conflict, just perhaps a little incomplete because he can’t go into a whole discussion of his car psychology (and I am only guessing on this part!). Comparing the car to others is only natural, but it’s also pointless, it’s not if you’d rather have something else, then that’s fine because you can go have it. This is a Ferrari supercar, so it has to stand on its own, its a singular achievement; but, its also part of a heritage of cars which together tell a story though time about what was possible, which I find it fascinating.. In the case of the F80, its a LeMans winner mixed with F1 know how made useable for the road. And it’s probably not for someone who will choose one thing over another.
if this 7 individuals love the car so much you can tell them there are available for sale two F80, one for 5.5 milion USD and other for 6+. milion, I wonder how many from this 7 people are traders looking for resale profit ....
It’s honestly impressive, Ferrari could cure cancer using V12s and carbon fiber, and you'd still complain about it. You're like the Michelin star of negativity, consistently bitter, no matter the ingredients. I wonder if anything actually brings you joy in life, for you sake I really hope something does.
The truth disturbs you, that's a fact ! But don't judge people you don't know... I don't judge you. Just make sure to continue to support contradiction, even if the professional world has probably taken that away from you....
it's lap times, the Nevera R is significantly quicker in a straight line and and I don't think anyone is ever going to even try and top the Bugattis 305mph top speed for awhile! this car is all about lap times, Ferrari knew that they were sacrificing emotion for performance so absolutely had to ensure it was the fastest road legal car around a circuit in existance and that's exactly what they seem to have achieved
