I went to drop my car off this morning to have the Kline exhaust swapped out to Inconel and the car lowered.
During the drive, it started raining. In general, I drive the car in "Race" mode, but with my son following behind me in the rain, I decided to switch the car to "Sport" and noticed the 430 has "mileage shift arrows" as an indicator in the cluster of when to shift for optimal fuel efficiency. Really, on a nearly 500hp dry sump engine, I need something to help optimize my fuel economy!!! Maybe I knew it was there and forgot because this is dumb, but this really was a waste of some programmers' time since it doesn't seem to be a simple shift at a specific RPM indicator, but something with a more complicated algorithm.

Interesting. Must be US specific. Here the up arrow is solely for the 2008 onwards F1 'Auto Easy Start' feature.

Just be happy they didn't do what Stelantis and I think GM did! The 6 Speed in my old 2011 Challenger had a "skip shift" feature that popped a solenoid out under certain conditions to physically block you from shifting into 2nd gear in an attempt to make you put it in 4th instead. THAT was the worst. Luckily you could pull the connector and install a resistor to bypass it. Really sucked the fun out of rowing gears.

I'm at about 7 years of ownership, and didn't even know this existed. My car is always in "race" mode as well! lol

I have had my 2006 for 11 years and it does provide the symbol to recommended gear change. The Ferrari Dealership told me to ignore it. :)

My 2009 has it. I’ve only ever driven in Sport mode. Are you saying that if I keep it in Race mode that arrow won’t show up?

I hear you. Another irritating thing is the blank window that shows absolutely nothing, because mine is a manual shift unit. Couldn't Ferrari have ponied up for 10% of the tach guages without that window?

I had a gauge face made without the square cutout because that irritated me as well.

Isn't the display also used for the Tire Pressure system and to indicate some faults? It's not just for the "gear".

No idea. Any tire pressure faults I've seen come in through the lower square display.

Doesn’t that mean the car was not a factory manual, but a manual conversion? From what I’ve read, that plus the absence of the cavalino on the gated shifter are the signs it was a conversion.

Both versions had the gear number square. There was no difference between the manual and F1

duhh, I had a brain fart. I was thinking you blocked the bottom screen. Next time, I won't post my comment while standing in line at McDonald's.
