We've seen engineers that once worked for Ferrari that have moved on into other F1 teams and have flourished in their fields. Andrea Stella, an ex-Ferrari employee, now works for Mclaren and is doing very well there. Binotto, an ex-Ferrari employee, is doing quite well at Stake(Sauber) as the team is currently in the mid-field rankings in the WCC standings which is millions of USD to the team. It's not last place like it was in 2024. Mekies, an ex-Ferrari employee, is now running RedBull. He's got mountain to climb to get the team back on top-->"Keep pounding the rock"....time will tell how he does. I could name others as well. So over the course of history with Ferrari F1, we all know it's the culture within Ferrari F1 that hampers the attitude and character of a winning team.
Nice post. Its not just RedBull who has lost key talent that is clearly capable. Ferrari need to change. RedBull appear to accept that reality!
There’s no hate, just facts: Lewis should consider retirement. The longer he remains in F1 without significant results and continues to be outperformed by Charles, the more his legacy may be at risk.
I'll put a worm on the hook. For the better part of a decade the narrative was a generational great, if not THE greatest of all time. Fast forward through the Mercedes era and millions rank him as the GOAT because they can't or won't look past the 3 basic stats of Championships, wins, and poles. Those with some analytical sense or just a decent grasp on reality knew that his fortunate string of dominant cars carried his career well beyond his talents. Now that he's getting worked regularly by his teammates and isn't outperforming the car on any weekend a lot these people that ranked him as the best are starting to change their tune and he's dropping down the rankings. If he ends his career looking closer to average than to greatness and all his does is complain and make excuses. That's how he will be remembered, especially in this DTS era of fanbase. So yea, I'd say his legacy is at risk. In fact, I'd say it's already be changed.
Nope. Legacy is stronger than ever. Accepting a new challenge with a new team makes the legacy even stronger. Its already written. Time to see if Leclerc can build a legacy.
Why would Ferrari choose to design their car around their slower driver? Seems like a horrible decision if you want to win?!?!?! So I suppose they may just do it......... Realistically, the only chance Lewis has of winning another championship are having a rocketship of a car, combined with a slower teammate. What are the odds of that happening?
I'm the one accepting history, accepting he is still valuable to F1 (proof of Ferrari hiring him). His outside projects are successful. I see no decline to his legacy. I see reality. Those that try to twist reality have the trait of delusion.
Well said. If he sticks around for 2026 and has the same results it would be a major embarrassment for him and certainly raise a few valid questions. The only people who won’t admit this are his hardcore fans which tend to be the most delusional group of people I’ve ever seen.
Yall been talking about Sir Lewis Hamilton's legacy for years. He didn't do this, he didn't do that, he drove this car, his legacy is done. Then Russell as team mate did this, that. Yet and still he is the face of F1 and still with a top team, getting paid top dollar. And you all got the nerve to call some body else delusional.
Lewis is getting crushed and has been exposed for being just a good driver, nothing all that special. Going on 5 years of excuses and pointing blame for his own failings. Yet you say his "legacy" is stronger than ever. That'd be like saying Michael Jordan's legacy was at it's peak when he was with the Wizards. The difference is Jordan was actually the best.
All right, point blank, do you believe Ferrari hired Lewis because they thought he could win the WDC? Do you think his poor performance this year is his fault or Ferrari’s? Do you think Lewis can ever win another WDC?
I don't see him getting crushed. Are you talking about F1? Charles should be crushing him at this point in his career, but he is not. Yes Jordan could have played for a high school team, that still didn't take away his legacy. As with Sir Lewis Hamilton. You all can write a million post. It won't change nothing.
1. Yes I think Ferrari hired him knowing that he could win if giving the opportunity. 2. I think his performance is not the same as 10 years ago. I also think Charles should be more ahead of him, but that shows how great Sir Lewis Hamilton is. But yes its Ferrari's fault if they don't build a winning car. 3. Given the right car and if he is still motivated I see a chance of that happening. But its a slim chance at this point in his career. But as I said before he doesn't need to win another one. I'm watching young drivers build there career.
Guys, I think it's great having Hamilton himself on this forum. That's the only explanation I can come up with.
Effectively, that's what several here would have Red Bull do since only Max can drive the car currently. Red Bull can't win the manufacturer's championship with the best driver, so dumb the car down.
Correct. Some past champions curse out their team or ram into other drivers when being beaten. Or do both as Max displayed
