I understood the functions, but my beefs were that the left side controls were not responsive and not easy to find without taking your eyes off the road. Also, I had to wipe fingerprints off of the Start/Stop area and the left pretty much every drive to get rid of fingerprints on the smooth plastic.

I don't think I've ever wiped the red button or manettino switch in any other car, at least not intentionally. I applaud the return of the buttons that click.

the more 296 successor will have tech from F80 the more current 296 will have price drop, lot's of Ferrari customers follow the newst tech, imagine when journalist test 296 replacement will call it budget F80, key is if car will have electric turbos

It's not that the haptics are so complicated but rather a terrible solution compared to what they could or should have done.

There is a reason no one else has 400 buttons on the steering wheel that you have to feel around to change something. Also the screens are behind the steering wheel, its just dumb.

You should never have to take your eyes off the road to search for a button, especially in a car this fast.

I dont have a lot of time in the car and Im sure I'd become accustomed to the controls but the better systems dont require any getting used to.

Go tell the third owner, who will have to bear the costs of the batteries, brake discs, and electronic issues... because that's when the moment of truth will come! The repair costs will exceed the value of the car... this is what makes it a consumable product...

I don't buy the fear mongering about system replacement costs.

IIRC the large battery runs $280,000-320,000. And last time there was a dead one here, I saw that the owner had to wait like 9-10 months with the car sitting in service for a replacement to be manufactured and shipped from Italy.

Older Ferraris have incredible maintenance costs (engine out) PLUS repairs. These likely won’t be worse- Ferrari quality has never been better. Now- You can buy extended warranties out of warranty with an inspection.

That's why Barrett Jackson had to wait so long to auction Sammy Hagar's LaF. Took almost a year for battery to arrive.

Theoretically- every new model is improved from the prior one. It has always been this way. You can wait forever and not buy a car with this mentality.

Limited production cars have much, much higher costs because the parts cannot be amortized over a large number of cars. Different world. And it doesn’t stop these iconic cars from increasing in value- dramatically.

I respect you but not agree, for many people 458 to 488 was change for worse, for many F8 to 296 was also change for worse, but 296 replacement will not be worse

No. I’m 64 and in most cases- I actually like the haptics. NOTE: The younger crowd is apparently having trouble using the paddles. :)

I agree with you regarding 458 to 488. Strongly disagree with F8 to 296- and the motoring press agrees that the 296 is superior in virtually every way. Regardless, in most cases the newer car is objectively better. Exceptions don’t make the rule.

You know the car is great when people are bickering over CarPlay integration in the UX and how Waze is a PIA to use.

It's like dating a supermodel and complaining that she doesn't turn off the TV when she goes to bed (with you).

The 296 is very good but could have been better. The next version will likely correct some of these problems. At that point the 296 will be an absolute bargain and I bet they sell fast once they hit the 250k to 300k range. Im guessing the next model will be 500k well spec'd which will keep them from going any lower.

No, I like the TV on.

This is supposed to be Ferrari stepping into a more technical world and while it is miles better than cars from just a few years ago, it could have been much better.
