We've had a few major issues about it here in town - remember that Wynn had his falling out over his black LaF arriving with a dead large battery, which led him to flip it immediately, which led to him losing the dealership franchise and dealership at his casino. My friend owns that exact car now.

This other one was red, and it was in service so long when I'd go in every time it was like :eek::eek: that's still not resolved? Nope... and I know some of the behind the scenes.

I paid $6,800 for a two year extension. I was quoted this price from two different dealers.

It really doesn’t take that long to get used to it. When driving- you can really avoid the haptics until stopped. Voice control also works very well. There is a learning curve- and it’s really not bad- unless you don’t want to make the effort. From my vantage- it’s more than worth the effort.

At that level I believe it helps the 296 retain value at some point.

There are always more available of the latest model out of production than the older models. This is normal. Supply and demand dictates price. These cars have vastly appreciated.

I only had my 296 for a few days so I will reserve my judgement of the car for now. But I will say that the haptic controls are fine. They work well and gives the surface a nice clean feel that's easy to maintain. No problem getting use to it quickly.
Didn't ferrari owners spend decades complaining about sticky buttons? Problems solved. Hooray, let's move on.

I understand how for the first gen wheel the haptics could be difficult to use, but I have the 25 wheel and its been perfect. Also, what settings are you guys going into and using every drive? I hop in my car and go without any use of the infotainment. My advice is to keep iphone on bluetooth and not mess with the carplay. The phone connects every time and I just play my playlist from Spotify on my phone. I know you all have cars from an era where bluetooth does not even work well so that should not be an issue. Heck I was in a 2024 Toyota Highlander rental on vaca and you guys should see how difficult and old that infotainment felt. I'm not sure I would switch to the new wheel even it was free.

I love the haptic controls on the wheel of both my Roma and my 296GTB. Very sleek and I’ve found them easy to use. I want to keep haptic - but no option for this in my Amalfi order. The one thing I do like is the new red physical starter button.

exotic cars are approaching a bubble. they are all affected. it is easy to knock the admittedly stupid and complex and unneeded hybrid and (in the case of some manuf like ferrrari their stupid inside interfaces) but... the bubble is built in on itself. the market itself has created it. demand yields these numbers. and as long as these desperate image seeking flippers exist that is exactly what manuf like ferrrari will continue to chase.

the depreciaction curve on the 296 has to flatten. and it will when these speciales arrive at eye watering 600k specs. the replacement for the 296 will be at that price point and by then the 296 will be up. ferrari's point system is going to disappear. they had to reinvent themselves with the included maintenance once upon a time.

I totally agree with everything you said However, I don’t think there’s that many people flipping cars anymore… There’s no money in that practice lol

In the latest model years, do the ADAS systems (emergency braking, lane assist, blind spot warnings) need to be disabled every time you start the car? This seems to be the case with many new cars. I've seen conflicting reports for the latest Ferraris. If you have to do that by fumbling through menus before every drive, I can see that getting old.

It isn't an issue in my newest car (2022 F8), but it doesn't have any of these "features".

On my just delivered 296, I set up the custom menu for what I want, and haven’t had to touch it. There’s a button on the steering wheel that can pull up the settings, but it has not been a problem. Only think I leave on is blind spot detection.

i guess i should include the fortune seeking fake appearance desperadoes who hope to lose little or nothing by being the first and justify mitigating any losses by justifying the the GTS version or whatever is newest and next so they can keep impressing their neighbors and one day make back their money lol. i dont know if there is a name for all that.

That sounds great to me. (And vastly better than what most manufacturers seem to be doing.)

You are correct! I am 6'5" tall 220lbs height weight proportional however my height has kept me from being able to get into a Ferrari until really the 458 came out....I had a 488 and now a F8 I fit in but still not ideal. TOTALLY SUCKS....especially when flying, so cramped! I use to get a lot of compliments on being tall....trust me it is not fun!

As far as the 296...I folded myself into a 296, head beating against the upholstery upper door frame, knees pressed into the lower dash makes the car a total no go. The 296 does not fit me at all. It is a really tiny car inside compared to the 458/488/F8

There is...it's more like taking controlled losses flipping back to the dealer to get special models. For example...The way I've seen it with certain Ferrari buyers is essentially buying GTB, Roma, etc..., lose money trading in for a GTS, then lose money trading in for a Speciale, and THAT is when you make the money back. Do that for a few generations and maybe you get rewarded with a SP3, XX, F80 class hypercar
