The 348 engine seem quite expensive: https://www.ferrariparts.co.uk/part/ferrari/139469 Any suggestions for an alternative? I don't mind spending the above if that's what they cost, but if there's anything else out there, I'm all ears! Thanks for any information.
Yes thank you. I use MCP almost exclusively, I'm a shop in Melbourne and have a trade account with them which usually blows Eurospares and Superformance out of the water with not only pricing, but you actually get the genuine article.
I totally understand, they do list new ones but about the same price as Maranello Classic Parts. Totally ridiculous if this part isn’t available at a lower price, at least Jesse James had a horse and a gun.
Yeah, it costs what it costs. Whilst it seems excessive, the price amortised over say 20 years enjoyment of the car is miniscule. But that doesn't diminish the hit up front!
Eurospares have new mounts at an offer price of GBP 800. As you were also asking for an alternative, see at Superformance - GBP 298 aftermarket rubber mounts.
Thanks I also saw that @ Eurospares. I asked them to clarify what "New (Other)" means. As for Superformance, I also looked, however their search function is not a function at all, it's terrible, and didn't see the ones you list. I'll attempt to have another look now. EDIT: found it, thank you very much, under engine mount here: https://www.superformance.co.uk/348/eg.html Anyone have any experience with these? I'm really nervous trying them as most of the Superformance after market items are rubbish. The cost involved in changing the mounts should they fail early on would be swallowed up in the price saving due to the labour to change them again.
A suggestion would be to contact Lord manufacturing with the specifications of the mounts. They are manufacturers of vibration mounts. In the past I’ve had success with their quick responses and product details. https://www.lord.com/products-and-solutions/vibration-and-motion-control/industrial/isolators Telephone : 1-877-275-5673 Email link : https://www.lord.com/our-company/contact-us-form Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ferrari of Philadelphia (formerly Algar Ferrari) seems to have these mounts available for a not-too-unreasonable $683/each.
I'm a little cheap and old hot rodder. I make a sudo mold, burn the rubber out, pour the same or higher density urethane to fit my needs. Or I just make a solid mount. Lots videos on the subject now that that me tube thing is working edit LOL here LOL https://www.suspension.com/blog/do-it-yourself-liquid-urethane-motor-mount-replacement-inserts/
I spoke with a friend who installed a set of these and within 12 months and just a few thousand kms they had failed.
Thank you, I would never have thought to try a dealer in the USA (I'm in Australia). They work about half the price of MCP, which is unusual.
That is a very common size for any structure bolt on cars for bumpers small subframes stuff of the kind.
Interest in this thread, I am in the process of replacing my engine mounts. I am looking to have someone fabricate some solid engine mounts. I know this may make the ride a little harsher but would there be any other negatives?
Solid engine mounts? Why on earth would you do that? There is absolutely no positive to this and pages of negatives! It wont so much affect the ride, but the vibrations and stresses on the engine snd subframe will be another matter entirely. if you go that route, good luck and you might as well start looking for a new engine block now! Just cough the money for the new mounts. (eurospares get there oem parts from ferrariparts.co.uk!)
I have a design for a billet shape that holds a common, off the shelf polyurethane insert. I have to test fit the 3-d printed model before I cut aluminum.... sjd
Bump! Any updates? And I see MCP have revised their price too, the mount has nearly doubled in price in three years... https://www.ferrariparts.co.uk/part/ferrari/139469
