agreed. Keeping 2nd is the problem. Ferrari still has alot of work to do on the car.

Gees you missed the best part:

The Sky boys trying to explain to everyone just how great Norris is even when he makes mistakes.

"Oh its so hard to hit your pit box correctly". Yah, and only Norris had that problem.

It was sadly reminiscent of Monaco 2024 where the early red flag resulted in no pit stops for that race. Here, the FIA delay decision is tantamount to a policy of no wet races. This results in a race start on intermediates on a dry track followed by a very early one pit stop to slicks and then tire management to the end with no passing.

    agreed.

    Reason for B:

    1) He was told to manage the tires once he got up to Albon.
    2) He was told to LICO as well.

IMO, Today's race cemented that notion that Oscar is the Mclaren #1 and will be champion. The verdict is in. He is the better driver. The only way Lando wins the WDC is if he is lucky.

The pinnacle of motorsports ... as long as it doesn't rain.

Why do they even have wet tires?

I’m not a Lando “hater” at all, but the cheerleading from the commentary booth is pretty obnoxious. It’s actually malpractice when they’re breathlessly announcing the gap in the last 10 laps when they knew there was absolutely no chance of NOR catching PIA.

    Exactly what I was thinking.

On Belgian (French-speaking) television this afternoon, Jacky Ickx was co-commentator. Always a pleasure to hear this (Ferrari and motorsport) legend speak. He was clearly frustrated by how long the start was taking because of the rain… “ce sont quand même les meilleurs pilotes du monde.” Of course he supports a safe sport – but as he said, “danger will always be inherent to this discipline.”

Jacky explained: back in his day, during wet races, drivers were just as blinded by the spray from the cars in front. They had to rely on visual reference points along the side of the track—armco barriers, advertising boards, buildings... And it’s not like the cars were that much slower back then either!

Agree on back then and love me some Ickx.

But back then isn't the same as the last 10 years or more. You have Insurance companies that are liable for the race at the venues to include the FIA with regards to fatalities. We have seen an F1 driver die and a couple of F2 drivers die from adverse weather conditions at certain F1 tracks. The payout to fatalities families is enormous and the track has to payout huge fees for the insurance coverage.

Think about it this way with insurance-->"The more you crash in your personal car, the more the rate increases"......because you yourself are a "liability."

I would have to say, 1 race into the upgrades, Ferrari have the second best car! Charles held Max off for 43 laps in the wet, dry, old tires, etc.

Post race: Max even stated he wasn't able to get in the fight with Charles and if it wasn't for Charles's one mistake, I wasn't as close as it looked.

Max was at a disadvantage for 2 reasons:

    1) Changed rear wing to a higher downforce rear wing due to the forecasted weather.
    2) Changed PU to a used PU.

Hence why Leclerc held him off.

I could argue that Charles beat him, cause he did a better qualy lap, and started in front of him, had it been the other way around Max might have ended in the podium. In this case it wasn't the car, but the driver...same could be said for Max in the sprint race.

Well, it was a workmanlike drive, passing back markers and mid-fielders, not ruining his tires, and not throwing it off the track. Plus, he’s always going to get lots of votes from his fanbots.

Both McLarens showed how even their drivers are...but that Piastri simply doesn't make as many small mistakes. If they hadn't had to nurse their tires to the end, they would have been 30 or more seconds ahead of Leclerc. Both Ferraris were driven to their full potential. And both drivers showed their full potential...third and seventh. The only reason RB isn't 2nd in the constructors championship is because they've built the team around just one driver. Ferrari is in the #2 postition because they have one and a half drivers. Next week, Hungary and then the summer break. The only cars and drivers that matters will be McLaren. Everyone else will leave early to begin their vacations.

That's what Lewis said post race. I assume they used a lot of fuel making those early passes.

That's quite strange considering 4 of the 44 race laps have been behind the safety car (the formation lap was also behind the safety car, but for this one I guess it does not make much difference).
