    Good morning,

What insurance is everyone using? Geico is forcing me to insure my son and my insurance sky rocketed...
Any way around this? Do people use 3rd party insurers away from their family account?

    Thx

Don't ask me, my fleet insurance from Travelers went from $22k a year to $34k a year with no claims and mature, no points drivers. Of course, I'm in California, so there's that...

My personal insurance is with Mercury, about $7k a year for 2 range rovers, a truck and a Fiat. No claims.

Regarding your son, you can specifically exclude him, but then he couldn't drive the cars. Some kid hit one of my cars, and their insurance company denied the claim because he was excluded from the policy. He also ran from the accident, ended up with a conviction when somebody saw it and took a video of him leaving the scene.

I guess you could start an LLC, put his car in an LLC, list you and him as drivers to segregate. No idea if that would save money or not.

You might want to specify which type of(regular cars or specialty cars) insurance you are inquiring about.
    For me:
    Regular cars: Farm Bureau
    Special cars: Hagerty

Insurance laws vary by state. In Massachusetts young drivers are those 25 and under. Since they are huge risks, their insurance is high. You could take the kid off your policy, but then he/she would have to have their own policy (which certainly wouldn't be cheap). Otherwise they would be driving without insurance, which would be illegal in MA, but maybe not in your state. I have to pay extra to be covered for injury by an uninsured or underinsured driver.
