I agree, its not great. in the second half of his video....His points about what the realities are about the f80 are interesting (to me). Especially from the perspective on a non ferrari customer. Also, his observations about professional paid automotive media reviewers are also interesting...Chris Harris had stated similar observations years ago.
I couldn’t care less of someone’s opinion on the car he never drove. Basically he is claiming that every one who tested are not telling the truth. Lol
According to Ferrari, Copertura vano motore in lexan con finitura fumé, which roughly translates to Lexan engine compartment cover with smoke finish. Here's the official language for the Speciale. CERB/CERG: The new Ferrari 296 Speciale features a wide range of exterior elements in carbon fibre, designed to make the vehicle even sportier and lighter. The rear bonnet in visibile carbon fiber is an all-new opt that creates a strong link with the 296 participating to the GT3 Championship. CERB Detail: It's worth noting that this option is in GRAFITE finishing, which isDARKER compared to the other exterior carbon fiber finishings. CERG Detail: This option is offered in the SAME finishing as the other exterior carbon fiber components i.e. 90 gloss. Per @Lagunae92 earlier, the configuration tool at the dealer and online has this option on the Speciale Aperta as well, but there are no details from Ferrari as of 7/20/25 which I last asked, on pricing or details.
There are very few videos of the car driving around. I saw one from a spotter's instagram of it driving more aggressively at night in the rain. Sounded excellent, though the mic gain was turned way up.
6dbs louder is what someone said earlier in the thread, is that right? I am not expecting it to be anything crazy but that is a nice jump for factory. Was worried it would be quieter with all the EU regulation concerns. We need them to offer a North America exhaust option, so many of us would pay for that!!
This is the best we've got so far in terms of any officially published confirmation of a change in sound level from Ferrari. While maintaining the same 120° V architecture, equal length exhaust headers and single tailpipe configuration as the model it is based on, the 296 Speciale takes the engine sound to a whole new level, with accentuated volume and an even richer harmony evident in the higher frequencies. The less acoustically restrictive layout lets the driver enjoy the engine sound to the full in all conditions, while the driving experience is underscored by an exhilarating new sound during each shift.
After speaking to the dealer today, a Speciale is a go for me, but no Aperta. I should still be happy, but somehow I'm still wanting more. Damn Ferrari marketing, you win.
It’s not just marketing. The A will have better appreciation. I’m in the same boat. I am not good enough for an A. All that being said, I have a 296 GTS and the GTB has more room for my legs and for the seat to recline. It’s actually more practical driving wise.
For the US, $470,364 for the coupe, $537,524 for the Aperta, plus an 8.5% tariff contribution added to the base and options.
I ended up backing out of an aperta allocation because of the dealership specific lien. I am on great terms with them and have several cars coming, and hoping they get more allocations and can loosen up the lien requirement. Did pista allocations open up later in cycle?
In case it hasn't been mentioned, there are also more sound tubes than the std 296 to bring the engine sound into the cabin. Cars always sound better on the outside, time to get more of that in!
in addition to the standard rofr they required the dealership to have a lien on the title for 18 or 24 months, can’t recall exact duration. It was a way to formally enforce the rofr but I found that to be over the top and passed
Agree. I'm impressed with he standard 296 sound in the cabin. Of course, I want more, but it is a nice amount and the quality of sound is spectacular. This should be excellent. DMnLQXFtzqv
