If this pulls FHP troopers off of secondary highways where I can responsibly and safely* do 65-80 in a 55 or 60 zone, and puts them on the Is (see post 17) where they can do some good, it’s fine with me. I don’t think I’ve ever exceeded 90 on a public road…………well, except that one time in New Mexico when I decided to “double the double nickel.”:D

Road Pirates. Unmarked cops do nothing for safety, it's all about revenue.

Yes exactly.... they are hiding and putting themselves out in spots of no to very little traffic like long interstate entry or exit ramps, long dual stretches of interstate and country highways. Extra revenue is being distributed to Sheriff departments, State Highway Patrol, local police to do massive hiring. I see or have heard of or seen photo's of regular vehicles now being used to go after speeding. Ticket pricing is going up and as this thread is about you hit 100mph in your vehicle you go to jail and fined and car is impounded.

I went out to run and errand and it is literally zero fun and stressful to own a car like my Ferrari F8. I do not really speed a few mph over to get around traffic and drive in the clear or a nice run p a long interstate ramp. However now...no more fun. Car is very boring to drive at the speed limit.
    Times sure have changed!

I am very seriously thinking of selling my F8 and getting back into a track car for Chin Track Days at Sebring.

Don't fit great in Cayman based Porsche's 6'5' tall... I fit great in 911 based Porsches 997/991/992. My last Porsche car was a 2018 GT3 with Buckets, rear roll bar, Scroth 6pt harness. Killer car...but probably now more than I want to invest in to take to the track 6-8 times a year but a car that you can track and it can take it.

Our roads suck for driving anyways. Better off with a shifter kart or spec Miata.

Sadly most of the new owners buy these cars now just to park them in front of clubs and restaurants for clout. Hardly anybody tracks them anymore. I can’t imagine owning any exotic in south Florida is fun with our traffic and idiot drivers.

My biggest issue is "slower traffic to the right". Why people don't understand this is beyond me.
The other one is the self proclaimed speed enforcers...those people.who purposely go slower than the limit in travel and passing lanes and refuse to move over.
IMO they are just as dangerous as speeders.

Ah, Florida. Circa 1991, I got pulled over on I-75 in my silver 1980 911SC Targa. Just north of Naples there was a pickup truck pulling a small boat planted right on my tail, I was maybe doing 80 in a 65, got tired of him so as I came up on a couple of tractor trailers, I nailed it and after I went by one of the trucks moved over and blocked him. I probably hit 120 just to put some distance between us. Slowed back down, looked behind as the truck moved back over and there were the blue lights ... it was an unmarked cop truck pulling a boat. He pulled me over, I was contrite, said I didn't know why he was on my tail and I got antsy about it, etc. He let me off with a warning, but I think he just didn't want to mess with the paperwork instead of getting his boat on the water.

Funny thing is there was a crazy independent Porsche mechanic in Naples at the time with a car that was a twin to mine ... 1980 911SC Targa, silver. Couple weeks later he got pulled over doing 128 mph right around where I did, and when the cop asked him why he was doing 128, he said "Because it don't go no faster." Off to jail, car impounded :)

I had the new Super Speeder law in mind as we were rallying from Miami to the Redlands a couple of weeks ago, was careful to keep it at 95 or below. I got pulled over doing 105 on the I-595 express lane eastbound to Fort Lauderdale last summer. It was a Saturday morning at 8 a.m., not another car in sight. Trooper admired my car, gave me a warning. I kinda doubt that would happen now....

Did so for approx. a week after passage. Honestly now no. Sundays are usual driving day for my 458. Less cars, lot less trucks, less crazies. Now do more twisties, more backroads and finish with about 10 miles of highway at no more than 80mph. Car gets a small workout , I still get some fun. It is what it is as Fl. is now getting so congested. The old days are certainly going quickly.
